4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Andrew196 (1091) - Katy, USA - FEB 18, 2003
The aroma of this IPA was of sugar-coated hops. The mouthfeel was very pleasant, a bit creamy for a hopped up west coast style beer. The thick mouthfeel made me feel like I was chugging a hop soup! Very unique and very addictive.

Piney floral hop aroma and taste. Taste continues with the hop flavors coating the mouth nicely and giving a nice lingering bitterness. A nice moderate IPA.
Notes: Called "Fresh Hop IPA" at the pub

Had this on tap at their pub in Las Cruces. Pine/citrus aroma. Clean taste with a nice bitter hop bite. Very good, but I liked their ESB a little better.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Aroma of caramel malt, sweet orange, citrus, and some odd malty notes that are difficult to describe. Flavor of caramel malt, iced tea, piney, orangy hops, some acetone, and mineral notes. Just kind of odd tasting - from what it’s hard to say, but a disappointing IPA (and it’s fresh hopped too, oh well).

Growler thanks to Jcwattsrugger. Pours like chunky apple cider. Tons of hop sediment. Nose and tastes of dry hops and caramel malt. Slightly bitter.

On-Tap- Served a copper color with a small head with a bit of lacing.
Aroma was primarily of pine with a hint of citrus. Starts with a nice hop tang. Flavor of some citrus and a bit of biscuit. Quite refreshing. Fairly medium body, crisp and clean. Seems to be well balanced. Very drinkable. Enjoyed enought to get a growler to take with me.

On tap at the brewpub. Amber orange in color with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma is of light citrus and grain. Taste is not quite hoppy enough and a little watered down. Mostly just grain.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - APR 9, 2010
Draft pint at the brewpub. Standard visual -- nice amber color with a towering head. Subtle grassy aroma. Drinks with a shallow hoppiness but is overriden with an odd nutty kick, stingingly bitter in a woody way. (#3878, 4/9/2010)

On tap at the brewery. Pours a lighter golden orange. Mainly getting lightly sweet malts off the nose, not much else. Flavor is very soft, and mainly malt! A tiny bit of grapefruit citrus is picked up through the body before moving into what seems to me a light hop note and finish. Malt actually takes over and lingers over the hops! Main reason I’m scoring this so low: I’m drinking it side by side next to the Anniversary, the double dry hopped version of the IPA - and that actually tastes like an IPA...the regular...is just trying to be one.
