2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, - DEC 24, 2011
Light brown. Not much head. Lightly toasty and fairly chocolatey. Decent, a good balanced porter.

Draft @ brewpub. This one looks thin. Murky brown, underdeveloped, washed out tone with reddish tint, smells dirty. Hmmm, a little nail polish remover, unfortunately in aroma. Tastes better. Nice malt character but it’s not developed enough. Is thin, sweet and extracty tasting unfortunately.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown in color with a small beige head. Aroma is of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is of caramel, chocolate, and roasted malts with a light bitterness.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GlenVargas (136) - Arizona, USA - AUG 15, 2007
The High Desert porter is nice and dark (brown-black) with some heavy roast and a little smokiness. There might have been a little bit of chocolate and caramel in there, but, like most of High Desert’s brews, it doesn’t ever stray too far from what is absolutely necessary of a particular style.

An excellent porter. 10 oz glass at the brewery. Very dark with some decent head. Chocolate aromas and flavors were more chocolate and some coffee. Excellent porter dusiness on the finish. I liked this Porter

Translucent reddish-brown body with a creamy light tan head. Strong coffee aroma and flavor plus a healthy dose of chocolate malt. Tasty, well-rounded porter with a nice, medium body.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - DEC 3, 2004
Pours a brownish red with a tan head and some nice lacing. Roasty, caramelly aromas. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the flavor. Some sour malt to. Med. bodied. Only a slight bitterness at the end. One of their better beers.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DrunkAsASkunk (847) - Lynnwood, Washington, USA - AUG 10, 2004
Thanks to TannerTavernboys for taking me to this hole in the wall brewery. This beer pours a dark brown color with a creamy white head with decent lacing. The aroma was chocolate, vanilla, and hints of cocoa. The taste is wonderfully smoky, with cocoa, vanilla, and a nice dose of hops in the finish. A dry robust finish with a good chocolate graininess in the aftertaste. Overall an impressive porter.

Another fine brew from this place-This was a very smooth porter that had a very nice hop bite. Another world class beer from an unknown place!
