3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 5000 (5000) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 25, 2011
Bottle:   Dirty caramel, large spritzy beige head, dies quickly, spotty lacing.   Aged dark fruit nose,
slightly candyish in that stale way.   Burnt caramel, smidgen of wood, some vanilla and campfire round it out.
Peat and sweet charred wood up front, some dark pitted fruit but its muted.   This kinda reminds me of
really old and stale brown sugar.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, finish is a little thin.   Very slight
tartness to it.   Perhaps it was best to have this months ago.   Just has this stale sugary flavor.   Oak
is minor.   Not bad, but could stand to be heaftier.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RSRIZZO (1821) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - OCT 23, 2011
22oz bottle poured into a Dimpled Mug at 45°. Color is a golden amber with very good carbonation and a tall thick, frothy head. Aroma has a bold sour note, a hint of oak, hay and hop citrus. It has a lighter medium body that goes down with a smooth mouth feel. Flavor of roasted malt, raisins, tart cranberries and a pine like taste, then a full bitterness rolls in. In the after taste a sour fruit and Belgian yeast flavor shows up with a dry feel. Overall its a very well done Holiday brew with a complex flavor palate that suits the season.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brigadier (2275) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JUL 28, 2011
22 ounce bottle
Hiding in the back of the cellar I decided that this has been waiting too long. It was not an expensive bomber which was good - the contents were merely passable. In hindsight I don’t regret picking it up but I also would not have been upset to choose something else.
Aroma and appearance - The deep fluid body was lively and carbonated with bubbles percolating through the maroon base. Like a glass full of watery mud it sat there idly. The smell of a rustic cabin decorated only with a small Christmas tree gave off a festive mood. Somehow though it was unimpressive.
Flavor and palate - The booziness hit the senses immediately. Coming along for the ride were burnt toast, a glowing feel, and rich tea or instant coffee. After a while it became boring. The fact that a third of the bottle went down the drain did not bother me. This was a good effort but poorly executed.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 wlajwl (2984) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JUN 11, 2011
Roasted malts in the aroma while the appearance is a brown-amber in color. The flavor is of fruit and the aforementioned malts. Rather unique for a brown ale, this is heavy on the fruit but still balanced in the malts.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 after4ever (5358) - Brier, Washington, USA - MAY 13, 2011
22. Pours a deep brown with a creamy tan head. Roasty brown bread nose showing way too much aluminum and CO2 along with the malts. Creamy medium body with soft carb, goes a bit watery in spots. Somewhat acrid, seems to be a nasty fight happening here between the hops and the phenols. Acidic for sure, salty, soapy, metallic. Oh, and showing some brown bread and molasses as well. Not sure if they meant for it to be this way or not.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 LilBeerDoctor (2823) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 2, 2011
Bottle. This was an impulse purchase, and unfortunately, not a good one. Pours a ruby red with a thick white head. Aroma of oatmeal malt, sweet fruits, and floral hops. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, lots of sugary notes and raisin. Ok, but much too sweet for my liking.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 HonusWagner (909) - Florida, USA - MAR 31, 2011
The nose is very yeasty, with all the esters you’d expect out of Belgian yeast. Also oaky, a bit sweetbread, and slightly too detectable alcohol. A bit of toasted grains. It’s an interesting idea but it falls apart a bit.
