COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Well, sure, the Cold War might be over, but you can’t be certain, can you? You’ve got brewers putting all sorts of crazy things into your beer – do you ever really know where they came from, or why they’re even there in the first place?
You need a beer you can trust, and that’s why we make Purity of Essence. It’s an overstuffed blend of the best malts, fresh Noble hops, yeast, and water, brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot – the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 – but you won’t find anything like this in the Old Country. Vienna and Munich malts add just a bit of color and malty firmness to balance the intense hoppy flavors and aromas that make this brew distinctly American.

Malts: German Pilsner, Vienna, Cara-Munich, and Wheat malts
Hops: German Perle, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker
Available in 22 ounce bottles and in kegs.

NOTE: ABV is stated as 6.5% on the bottle but 5.4% on the website. The former appears to be correct.

A new brew from High & Mighty, contract brewed at Paper City. 22oz bomber. Pours a medium to dark-ish amber color with a pretty nice pillowy off-white inch of head. Aromas of crisp lager yeast, some citrus and floral hops, and some toasted biscuit notes. Flavor starts with a fair amount of citrus bitterness and notes of lemon and grapefruit. Crisp, smooth toasted malt notes in there as well, but very much take the backseat to the hop profile. On the mellow side, not overdone on the flavors. Very smooth and crisp on the palate, with a clean finish. Decent brew, but nothing especially impressive.

Pours a pale copper into a shaker. Large white head recedes leaving spot lacing. Caramel and grass aromas. Bitter with little malt balance from front to back.

Blankboys bottle, shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & Tupalev. Appearance: Hazy golden orange, slightly brown. Aroma: Slight hop, sweet with banana in there too. Flavour: Musty, hoppy, slight bitter/acidic with an enjoyable hop finish.

Pours hazy orange. A firm malt backbone and strong lemon-bitter presence define this beer. Some other citrus and grassy notes, but mostly lemon with a good sweet/bitter balance. Unfortunately the bitter that pulls through in the end is not very pleasant.

[Draft @ The Draft] Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, toasted dough, citrus fruits, toffee, and light pine. Taste was dry, yeasty, citrus fruits, toffee, grapefruit, and light metal, and finishing with a bit of alcohol.

I had this beer maybe a couple weeks ago. I don’t remember too much about the flavor. I do remember I didn’t think it was anything special. It didn’t taste as fresh and clean as their XPA, which I like.

From cask. Pours hazy orange with a fully gone and white head. Aroma is fruity and caramelish malty. Sweet malty, citrusy and peachy. Bitter and fruity finish with a sweet caramelish malt base. Ends dry and bitter.

Bomber. Hazy pale orange with a nice white head. Mild fruit, grains, mild hops, light spice. Nice carbonation - quite bubbly, average body, starts a little sweet but becomes dry and slightly bitter on the finish. Leave a bit of a soapy off taste at the end - not well balanced yet still not bad.

Draught at TDR Ex.: Aroma of fruit, floral hops, and light malts. If you read the 4 existing reviews, people thought there was a wide variety in the aroma. Interesting. Poured copper with a hint of amber in color and a small white head that disappeared instantly. Hazy. Not sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor of yeast, spices, bubblegum, and a hint of chocolate malts. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Yeasty, fruity, lightly malty, dry finish. An ok lager.
