2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rastacouere (5923) - Montréal, - JUL 29, 2009
A murky auburn beer whose head quickly vanishes. Highly fruity nose, a trait which seems to come as much from the yeast (exotic esters reminiscent of banana puree) and malts (peach, apricot, pineapple and the likes). It makes for a pretty juicy palate as the effervescence remains soft, but the relatively high sweetness of the ensemble also enduces a slightly syrupy feel. In the mean time, its quite pale colour ensures that no such hints as roast, nuts or chocolate are felt in there. On the other hand, it attempts to balance its sweetness with a more generous than most dash of hops. They are herbal and quite green, spicy and not overly bitter. I don’t really know what to make of this one. I love High&Mighty’s aptitud to brew remarkably clean and crisp small beers. This heftier attempt seems less convincing to me.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2010 Good head, poor color. Tastes like batteries and old coins. Tries to have a brown nuttiness but just ends up with an off-sourness. Very disappointing and borderline unpleasant. It’s like an elderly woman’s perfume, and not in a sexy way.

A light orange brew with decent carbonation. Poured into a snifter. Be sure to let this sucker warm up! Funky bread and fruit aroma. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected, making this quite drinkable. Flavor is complex citrus-spice-fruit-apple with good yeast character. Finish is a bit hoppy and fruity-bitterness. Probably not your typical Belgian - much more lively and quaffable. Good stuff!

Orange in color. A foaming tan head. Mild flavor, balanced with hops and malt, Slightly floral with very meek spice and citrus hints in it as well.

So far I have not been a fan of any High & Mighty beers, but I am on a mission to find one I love. I have no doubt they have something that is gonna knock my socks off.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2010
A hazed orange amber ale with a thin thick frothy light moka head. A plesant herbaceous malt aroma with catnip, quite nice. In mouth, the same nice herbal malt, with wild cereals, almost saison-like, herbal hops, medium bodied. Quite nice. Bottled on June 4 2009, so almost 1 year old.

Pours hazy light amber color with thin off white head. Aromas of orange peel, corriander and Belgian yeast. Bitter citrus rind, floral hops and metallic flavors. Not very good. Thin body with average carbonation. I’m having a hard time finishing the bottle. I have yet to try a good beer from this brewery. Why do I keep buying their beers?

Clearwater, Fl - World of Beer - 22 oz bomber. Dark copper pour, sticky, dark, almost brown pour. Interesting aroma, some booziness, grapes, and some date-like sweetness. Flavor is sweet and slightly muddled and hard to put a finger on. Pick up some sour notes, a hint of vinegar, some dates and raisins. Mouthfeel is just so-so. Not sure what exactly this is trying to deliver, but it slightly misses the mark.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 chickenflea (242) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - FEB 19, 2010
22-oz bottle. Pours a cloudy golden amber under a small fizzy white head. There was minimal lacing in the glass. Aroma is floral with spices. Hops are understated, balance with the dry spiciness of the brew. A little sauciness and paper napkin among the spices. Some apple cider notes. Light body and texture. Lively carbonation. Drinkable and interesting. This beer was 4 months old and could have set a little longer. It has promise, but came across as just a little rough.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 CaptainCougar (6835) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - FEB 8, 2010
Bottle shared by argo0 on 8/24/08: Pours a hazy copper orange with a stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh citrusy orange and biscuity malt with a touch of coriander. Body starts with decent fullness and carbonation with a mild, toasty caramel maltiness and earthy bitterness and grainy clove character. Pretty smooth, but could use more sweetness and less earthy bitterness.
