Draft @ BCTC. My last rating of the actual fest itself, after Ithaca Brute, CL Rosso, and Bullfrog Black Cherry Bomb had been exhausted; the reps at the booth stated this was a soured version of their St. Hubbins Abbey, although it certainly wasn’t as sour as many beers that came before it that day. Pours a hazy brown color; light tan head with medium-bubbled lacing. Lightly tart cherries, red fruits, caramel, and light acidity; mild citrus-laden tartness. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy brown sugar, vinegar, and overripe red fruits; light tartness coming through; oily dark fruits and some citrus acidity; reminded me of something like Duchesse, with overripe red fruits, restrained sourness, and balsamic notes. Slightly messy overall. Medium finish: dark fruits, oiliness, and a touch of lingering vinegar throughout.

Draft @ BCTC. Pours dark brown (almost crimson). Nose is tart red fruits and oak. Flavor is similar with some dark fruits and a bit of vinegar. Finally a sour ale from the Shelton Bros brewery. I had a little conversation with Will Shelton who was the rep and he said he is no longer working with his brother at the import company, and just concentrating on High and Mighty. Look forward to more sours and great things from him. I hope.
