COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XPA (Extra Pale Ale) is an American classic. A hoppy session ale . . . relatively light and low in alcohol but packed with flavor. Old World English malts are paired with new American hop varieties, resulting in a superbly drinkable yet complex brew, ideal for evenings out at the pub or when entertaining at home. This beer has it all – enough hops to satisfy the most serious hophead, but enough malt to achieve a perfect balance. This American Pale Ale is unfiltered and unpasteurized.

Bottle. Slightly hazy light amber/golden color with a quickly diminishing head. Faint citrus, almost appley aroma of hops. Seems a little too overhopped given the light malt characteristics and rather thin palate. It’s almost as if they were trying to create a "light" pale ale or aiming for an Anchor Liberty clone. It would make a fairly decent hot weather refresher for hopheads, but overall nothing particularly notable and not worth the price I paid ($11/6).

Got a single at John’s. The pour was hazy and medium gold with a white head. The aroma was typical with grapefruit, apricots and some peanuts. The taste had grapefruit rind and some hints of dry grass. A smooth palate.

12oz no date. Pours a hazy straw golden with a moderate, fading creamy head. Aroma of bready malts and spicy floral hops. A little metallic as well. Fairly bitter thoughout, though not much else. Seems like they only used bittering hops. Slightly chalky lingering bitterness. No "perfect balance" here. Watery, soft carbonation. Not worth the $11.99 a sixer--quite a joke really.

Aroma is grainy and corn like. Mild amount of hops, but smells more like a Macro than anything else. Transparent golden color--slightly darker than most macros. Small quickly dissipating fizzy white head. Watery, grainy, corn like. Small hops at the end. Not much different than budweiser. What the fuck is this shit?

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2004 On Tap. Light yellow, with small white head. Not much aroma, maybe some fruit. Not too bad for an american pale. It helped that it came in a frosted mug....uummmm...frosted mug.

Extremely light golden color with unremarkable white head that disappears rapidly. Aroma is unpleasantly sharp. Sweet malt taste but sharpness from excessive carbonation hides it under tanginess. Finish is also malty. Neither great nor horrible.

Well I thought this stuff was pretty good. They had a rep from the brewery at Town & Country and he asked if I wanted a try. Well I said yes, bought a six-pack and got a free glass. Good deal... Anyway it has a light golden color and a malty/fruity smell. Taste is of malt and finishes with a bit of fruitiness. Overall it kind of reminds me of the BBC Steel Rail Ale which I also like a lot and nobody else does...

Well, the guy at the beer store said this one,"was kind of a dark beer." I don’t usually trust the beer store guys, but I decided to take his word for it tonight. Well, I was drunk when I bought the beer, so it is no excuse because I should have realized that it was a pale ale...duh!@ Anyway, the beer isn’t bad, it has a malty aroma and reminds me of a "poor man’s Sam Adams." The Pats better win tonight, because the beer is just mediocre.

Big frothy white head. Pale golden hue. Grainy corn husky nose. Looks smells and taste like piss. Im not terribly impressed with this one.Light fruitiness is about all this one has and it sucks.
