Blind Spot - Dark Specialty Ale: Blind Spot is ideal for the colder months, but perfectly enjoyable any time of the year. Fermented with a traditional English yeast. Wonderfully robust, full-bodied with a rich and warming finish. We have added a light dosing of dried ginger, cardamon, grain of paradise and star anise to the whirpool for some enjoyable spicing.

Almost opaque dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Fruity dark malt, thin. Plummy fruits with light cinnamon and cloves. Semi dry finish. Tasty if a bit light and dry.

Bottled, large sample. Dark color, short brown head. Aroma is slight fruity, lots of chocolate and coffee, biscuity malts. Not a lot of spicyness actually, which I was a bit afraid of. Lots of malty sweetness, biscuit, some bitterness. Good body, nice balance.

Tasted with the Nashville crew in late 2011 from a capped 650mL bomber bottle. Pours opaque dark mahogany with an average tan head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is baking spices with milk chocolate and some herbal and roasted bitterness. The flavor is more malt-forward milk chocolate with all of the same baking spices, ginger, and anise, with a very pleasant bitterness. The body is full with light carbonation and a long spiced milk chocolate finish.

Medium beige head. Opaque black body goes deep dark red at edges. Earthy chocolatey lavender aroma with cough drops notes. Dry, and faintly acidic, spicy chocolatey taste with lavender notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry-acidic chocolatey lavender aftertaste with earthy vinegary notes. It’s not bad, but the acidity spoils it. (0.65l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)
