COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For our first year anniversary of federal and state licensing I wanted to brew sometihng a little out of the norm. I have always loved the Alt beer style and decided tha the Dopplesticke would be a perfect way to celebrate this event. Using 50% German Vienna malt and 50% German Pilsner malt was an easy place to start. Sticking with the theme I selected German Magnum hops for bittering and German Hallertau Mittelfruh and Hersbrucker hops for aroma and flavoring. The next stop on the journey was yeast town, I went with a traditional Staudt Alt yeast which beautifully showed off the malt and hop character of the beer while providing that the classic German Alt character. I hope you enjoy this beer as much as I do. Cheers!!!

Bottle. The pour is a nice hazy dark brown. The aroma is full of malt, very nice german smell. The taste is full bodied and very smooth at the same time. Some strong yeast taste, but good. I was very pleasantly surprised. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - Pours dark amber with a thin foamy tan head. Nose is dark fruit--plums and raisins--with a sweet, bready malt base. Honey, a doughy yeastiness, and some tropical fruit linger in the background. No hops to speak of, though this seems to be nearly a year old so that’s no surprise (once again, thanks Total Wine for the old bottles!). Taste is about the same. Tons of lightly toasted dark bread malt, doughy yeast, and a nice mellow dark fruitiness. A long, sweet finish, with honey and nutty roast. Well-carbonated medium body. I would have loved to try this fresh, but what remains is a malty sweet treat that is still pretty enjoyable.

Bomber poured a clear amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of toasted malt, carmel, fruittiness and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, fruittiness, toasted malt and light earthiness with a smooth lingering fruity finish.

An offbeat choice for an anniversary beer that I much appreciate. Good to see more of this secret style. Pours a cola color. Nice lacing on the glass. Sweet taste. Raisin and plum notes. Very smooth.

Bottle... Pours clear and copper with a small, short-lived, fizzy, white head. The aromatic highlights are caramel and toasted malts with a smidge of vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor offers sweet notes of tea biscuit, caramel, tawny port and toasted malts. Finishes bittersweet and minerally. Bottle courtesy of richiesd!

Bomber from BevMo. Crystal clear deep ruby color. Slightly sweet nose of some dark fruit. Rich and malty with some fig and plum up front. A little breadiness. Some roasted malt in the finish, along with a little bit of a grassy hop bitterness.

Auburn brown with white head. Malty bready aroma with toffee. Creamy body with burnt caramel, tootsie roll and a rich doublebock like nutty maltiness.

Beautiful crystal clear deep copper/amber color with a thin white head. Wood, bready malt, cream and candied fruit aromas. The flavor bursts with lightly sweet caramel and cream which are tempered by a dry, earthy, forest floor bitterness. It feels creamy as you drink it which makes it even better. The alcohol is evident but well balanced like everything else here. Finishes sweet and dry, and leaves you wanting more. This is a really excellent German style ale and I wish I’d bought another one while it was available!

Bottle from Best Damn Beer Shop: Appeared a medium shade of brown that looked like a dark Indian tea color topped with a firm layer of foam which eventually fizzed out. My nose picks up on some high quality barley malts that still smell like they were recently crushed up while a hint of syrupy caramel like malts lurk in the background aroma. Flavor is a bit harsher with a strong presence of alcohol but delivers a heavy backing of malts like a true doppelbock should. Although, this does come across as authentic to the style, it isn’t particularly the best example of the style.
