Bottle poured a murky brown with a light brown head that settled fairly quickly to a rimming of fine bubbles and good lacing. A dusty aroma up front followed by strong fig notes and sweet maltyness with subtle hoppy undertones. Flavors of sweet dark fruit (figs and chery), bitter malts, caramel followed by subtle notes of citrus. The Finish; the nose isnít itís best, the front end flavors are ok...but the back end and trailing after tastes are where itís at with this beer, let this one sit out for 20 or so minutes before opening to get the most out of it!

Bottle courtesy of "hannont". Colour... Dark amber with no head. Nose... Bourbon and brown sugared dates. Palate...light CO2, a little oxidation but otherwise quite bitter with light molasses, Bourbon liqueur, sailor jack and a somewhat thin mouthfeel, though it does not distract from an otherwise enjoyable experience.

The pour is mahogany in color with a khaki head. Toffee and bready malts with a nice fruitiness. A touch of roasted malts, lots of toast, mild vanilla, and some floral hops. Caramel, cocoa powder, and toast are prominent on the palate. Some light vanilla, floral and pine hops with a light bitterness. Moderate sweetness of molasses and a hint of dark fruits. Good, but not as good as Old Inventory.

22oz bottle, same label as the Buffalo Trace version, but labeled as the 2011 barrel aged edition. yet another amazing extra from deftim13. thanks a ton, Tim! pours a hazy, russet brown capped by a rich, smooth, beige head that leaves rings of drippy lace. aroma is oustanding, bold and boozy, with heavy notes of woody bourbon, vanilla, spices, and sweet toffee backed by subtle notes of coconut cake, floral hops, dark berries, and raisins. flavor is delicious as well with sweet toffee, brown sugar, pecan pie filling, and citrus rinds up front backed by rich dark fruits, vanilla, toast, and rich, warming bourbon. palate is full bodied, lightly carbonated, and has just enough balance of sweetness and booziness to keep it from being cloying. overall, a very pleasant surprise and great barrel aged barleywine.
