22oz bomber picked up at Perry’s in Livermore over a year ago. It pours with a dark mahogany body that supports a dark tan head of foam. The aroma is full up bourbon booze and vanilla as well as just a touch of spicy oak in the background. The taste has sweet malt soaked raisins and prunes and a bit of caramel. It quickly pulls up smooth sweet bourbon thinly ringed by vanilla and ends a little on the dry side. It seems boozy and bourbon-y but the more I drink the more I’m picking up the depth and rich beer notes.

On tap. Pours with a lightly murky, deep brown hued body with a receding tan hued head. Any attempt at lace is batted down by alcohol legs. Aromas are of bourbon, molasses, marzipan, brown sugar, vanillin, barrel, dates, oak, leather and mild oxidation. The bourbon character is a bit on the brash side of things (bourbon quality wise). Kola and kirsch. Flavors are of leather, brown sugar, toffee, chewy, caramel, bitter. Lots of oak tannin and vanilla. Medium alcohol warmth, low carbonation with lots of bitter tannins in the finish.

Taster at DBS. Aroma was of bourbon and bittering hops. Flavor is bourbon, bitter hop, toffee, and caramel. I liked this taster better here than at Beer Rev. Very good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer is a murky dark brownish-amber color with a medium creamy light beige head that recedes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roast malt, fruit and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit, earthy hops and oak. The finish is mildly boozy with an oaky bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Bottle to glass. Pours a murky nut brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is big, boozy, malty. Flavor brings out much more of the bourbon barrel character, vanilla, oak, malts. Medium to heavy body with a lingering vanilla, bourbon. Delicious.

Bottle courtesy of "hannont". Colour... Dark amber with no head. Nose... Bourbon and brown sugared dates. Palate...light CO2, a little oxidation but otherwise quite bitter with light molasses, Bourbon liqueur, sailor jack and a somewhat thin mouthfeel, though it does not distract from an otherwise enjoyable experience.
