4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to bman1113vr for sharing this bottle. Bottle 48 of 216. Red-amber pour with a few bubbles but no real head. The aroma is full of caramel and toffee with some bourbon whiskey notes. The flavor is full of rich bourbon qualities with some chocolate, oak, vanilla, maple and alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.

Bottle shared by Dr. moll. You da mang!
The beer appears caramel brown with no head. The aroma is quite nice. Booze and toffee with a touch of chocolate. The flavor follows suit. Devoid of carbonation. Silky smooth on the palate, bu could use at least a prickle of carbonation to liven up the palate. Nice caramel and toffee notes. Oak and bourbon character is assertive throughout. Pretty good.

Poured a hazy brown color without much, if any head to speak of. Aroma is some barrel notes, woody character, vanilla note. Flavor is smooth, but boozy notes of alcohol. Some toffee.

Not sure if this is correct for Sacramento beer week 2013. On tap at boneshaker. Aroma is fruity, flavor is also fruity and like a wine. There is a good note of the high adv. Palate is sweet didn’t finish too dry

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pour. Thin fizzy light tan head. Overwhelming smell of bourbon vanilla and fruit all rolled into one. Medium to thick body with heavy wood aspects lingering afterwards. A tiny bit too oxidized for the flavor. Quite tasty though. Would love to try this fresh.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from Healthy Spirits. It pours a dark chestnut brown with no head even nine months after it’s release. The aroma is nutty and earthy with notes of bourbon, salty raisins, caramel and alcohol. The flavor is still super hot and dead flat with notes of raisins, alcohol, plastic, whiskey, caramel. I’m not a big fan of this, which surprises me since I love High Water.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Picked this bottle up earlier this evening at a Wholefoods in San Francisco ($13). Pours a dark red/brown with a froth of light tan foam. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, alcohol spice, brown sugar, dark sweet malt, figs, plum and more bourbon through the finish. Taste is bourbon up front and through the finish with some alcohol heat and beneath there is a dense, chewy barley wine with caramel, toffee, and rich, sweet malt. Coating mouthfeel. The bourbon is slightly hot but the base beer (referenced as an ’11 vintage on the label) is presenting as very smooth and decadent and its sweetness plays well off the bourbon. Exellent beer.
