from Erzbierschof - cloudy dark orange beer with a long lasting foam; hugely hoppy aroma showing notes of pine needles, peaches, quinces and cream; full-bodied, quite sticky, robustly bitter yet with some malty sweetness below; light residual sweetness and long resiney, caramelish and fruity finish

Bottle. Hazy goldenorange in color with a fluffy off-white head. Caramel sweet and piney notes in aroma at first. Lots of both floral and citrus fruityness too. Some bitters are there in taste together with some spruce and resin. Bitter and a nice soft malty finish here. Excellent. Dry and warming with some grapefruity notes in the end.

650ml bottle, pours hazy light golden brown with a white head. Aroma is a balance of big caramel malt goodness, with piney and citrus hop flavours. Finish is very bitter, with tangy bitter citrus aftertaste. Body is medium, texture oily, carbonation average. Nice.

22oz bottle - Maximum hops, maximum flavor, great beer. I’ve been waiting to try Steve’s new creations via High Water, and this was well worth waiting for. Aroma might be the weak link in this great beer, but that’s a stretch. The aroma starts out with a strong piney punch, resiny, juicy, fruity but restrained. Flavor has an enormous, hop blast like chewing on a fresh hop cone, lots of green hop flavor. The malts are there, and it’s definitely a balanced DIPA for sure. Nothing overly bracing about this DIPA, just a hop-showcase and something really smooth and satisfying about this beer. No noticeable alcohol presence, thanks in part to the malt bill.

Bottle, 22oz. It’s an unclear, dark golden to amber colored beer topped by a dense, finger-thick light beige head. The aroma is quite malty, with a nice hoppy touch in the back. Pine cones, resins and some oranges, with a faint cheesy touch. The flavor is really bitter, with resins, pine cones and orange peel. Full body, some alcohol warmth and a nice carbonation level. Lasting bitter finish. Nice indeed, although a tad sweet. Guess it’s influenced by age too. 140717
