COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional.
A simple blend of Pale and wheat malt combined with pure Mexican honey and 100% Styrian Golding hops is all it takes to produce Highgate’s first honey beer. More honey and a generous helping of Styrian Golding hops are added to each cask before leaving the brewery.
Tasting notes: A delicate pale beer with a distinctive nose of citrus fruit and honey. The palate is a refreshing blend of grapefruit, malt and honey, ideal for those long hot summer days, or helping to conjure up images of them!

Cask Conditioned at The Blue Bell, York. Golden beer with fluffy head. Light, crispy delicate beer with fresh tangy lemon background. The hop note tastes a little overboiled and the overall effect is probably too thin, but otherwise fine.

Unfortunately it smells a bit like Carling, and it tastes similarly as bad.

Half pint, cask ale at Society Room (JDW), pump clip said Davenport Bee-Zone. Yellow-gold body with a slight haze. Fragile lacing. Sparsely hoppy nose. Smooth taste of honey sweetness assisted by grainy malts. Low sweet bitterness on the swallow. Very average (Glasgow, 13.04.2012).

Cask at The White Swan, JDW, London, after seeing Jeff Mangum at Union Chapel. Pours a clear, strong gold with a foamy white head. Sugar, doughy malts in the nose with light hay notes. Medium sweet flavor, some white sugar, a sweet substance not really even vaguely reminiscent of honey, dough, light hay bitters. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky, moderately sweet finish with some sweet dough, sugar, hay and straw. Some sponge cake, perhaps. OK.

Shakespeare’s Head Spoons, Holborn. Light haze on this gold beer. Tidy white head. Light crisp palate, semi dry. Minerals. A light sweetness this one. Mild citrus seamlessly blended in. Bare whisper of estery banana. A crisp finish. Easy drinking but a little ephemeral.
