COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional. Also available in pasteurised bottle.
Distinctive aroma with citrus and malt dominating. On the palate roast malt, citrus fruit hops and liquorice are all discernible and the long bitter finish is a satisfying blend of hops and malt. A quality English ale brewed to celebrate England's triumphs both in the past and in the future.

500 ml bottle. As Davenports Englands Glory. 4.3%. Finland.
Amber colour with tiny off-white head. Mild caramel malty aroma with touch of fruity hops. Flavour is sweet caramel malt and mild bitter hoppy. Short bitter aftertaste. Thin. Cheap (even though it wasn’t that cheap), boring and disappointing as all Davenports so far. Not that glorious.

July 2009: Brown 500ml bottle (Davenports): with a years life left according to the best before date. Poured into a standard UK pint glass. Light brown, amber colour, clear and clean looking, no head, just a thin collar and a poor attempt at a wispy covering. Sweet candy aroma, strange for a UK bitter, no hops, malts or yeast in the smell at all? The rear label claimed it contained Malted Barley, a blend of Pale, Crystal and Amber, supplemented with Torrefied Wheat. Fuggles, Progress and Styrian Golding Hops. Well all I can say is; there isn’t much of any of them in the taste or aroma. There is a sweet and fruity feel to the brew, not unpleasant, just not what I was expecting from an English Bitter. The 4.3ABV is just about findable and to be fair it is easy to drink and agreeable to my palate. Difficult to score objectively, but overall not bad at all.

Light, malty flavour. Nice balance of sweet and bitter. Nice texture, not too thin.

Bottle, thanks oh6gdx! Hazy pale nut brown, rich creamy head. Caramelly and papry upfront. Sweet and fruity, bland and toffeeish with marzipan forming a sorry little body. Finishes with mustard seeds and slight resin.

DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2009
Bottle, as ’Davenport’s England’s Glory’, from Crosspoint Tesco, Coventry. Bright bronze, flat white lid. Unpromising sickly cherry, marzipan and candy floss aroma, feeble dead hop and honey leaking through sugar. Crumb of nut. Pretty much the same beyond. Salvaging hint of rhubarb crumble long after the swallow. A cheap and unfermented-tasting beer swimming with pasteurised and sugar-as-ingredient buttery caramel and cherry notes. Gave it to Octo. Inglorious. 424310

0.5 l bottle. Amber color with small head. Sweetish, caramelly and nutty aroma with candyish hops and almonds. Caramelly and biscuity flavor with a hint of candyish hops, low bitterness and some fruitiness. Thin and slightly watery. Mild flavor with only a touch of hops, a disappointment.

500 ml bottle. Cloudy amber color, attractive frothy off-white head. Woody hop aroma with a touch of caramel. Slightly fruity bitter flavor with some caramel in the background. Something like tannins in the taste as well. Fairly light body, slightly watery. Not a spectacular beer.
