Cask at the Stage Door, Victoria, London. A pre office Christmas lunch drink at a pub I rarely visit provided an unexpected scoop. A copper coloured bitter with the emphasis on fruity malt. Some underlying light bitterness and dusty hop. Didn’t realise it was 4.8% - came over more like a best bitter than a strong bitter really. Pleasant enough in a middle of the road sort of way.

Cask in Counting House. Aroma is spicey rich malts with grassy hop but something doesnt suit it. Taste is similar slight iodine note, not sure what the annoyingness is here but its annoying.

Cask - Wetherspoons, Canterbury. A light copper colour with a decent-sized white head. Fairly unremarkable citric hop aromas. Full of sour fruits that never really come together particularly well. An ok but forgettable bitter finish. Reasonably quaffable, but nothing one would write home about.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
Blonde with a slim white head. Bland hoppy aroma with a bit of alcohol. Very citric flavour with a bit of paint stripper from the alcohol. Strong lemon on the finish. Not great and probably on its way out.

Doppelganger (1383) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - FEB 28, 2007
Cask, Turf Tavern, Oxford. Dark copper, small soapy layer of off-white. Ripe apple aroma, plums, lots of fruit that seems on the edge of noble rot. Caramel, butter, building as the glass progresses. Plum sweetness, a bit of musky leather. Just a touch of pithy hop finish. Nice soft palate. Not a bad beer--just lacking a certain something to bring it all together.

Cask@The Prince Albert, Twickenham. Pretty crappy bitter. Tastes quite industrial, with notes of metal and some sort of deteregenty, wishy, washy mouthfeel.
