Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden May 3, 2008 (Cask at Black Friar, Blackfriars, London, 26 April 2008. 4,4% abv) Chestnut colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of caramel, chocolate and hints of sulphur. Malty, nutty taste with toffee, milk chocolate and a short earthy bitterness in the finish. Malt sweetness throughout. Decent but hardly exciting.
wheresthepath (249), Buckinghamshire, England Aug 15, 2008 [handpull at Hope Tap, Reading] 4.4% ABV when I had it too - which correlates with brewers website. Chestnut colour with a thin, lasting, soap-sud like head. Initially bitter, then treacle, earth, autumn leaves and some honey. Aftertaste bittersweet with some earth & treacle; very sticky mouthfeel. Tastes stronger than ABV would suggest. An enjoyable pint, but stickiness would mean you wouldn’t want too much. Magic_dave6 (4012), London, Greater London, England Jul 24, 2008 Cask in the New Crown. Aroma is slightly sulphury, caramely malty character. Taste has more hops, but its fairly uninteresting, if pritty drinkable. bobinlondon (220), Harrow, Greater London, England Jul 12, 2008 Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Copper with no head despite reasonable carbonation. Very much a bland regional brerwery taste with some malt, a spattering of earthy hops and not much else. Boring. joe1961_2 (425), camberley, Surrey, England May 6, 2008 Cask at the Rose and Thistle Frimley green. Poured a light brown colour with a off-white head. The aroma is malty with a hint of caramel. The beer has a very malty taste, the finish is dry and bitter. A good beer but not a session beer.l
