This beer has been brewed exclusively for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival and is mid brown in colour, with a traditional English hop aroma and bitterness, balanced by malt flavours and given an interesting twist by priming with honey.

JDW Fest. Hazy amber, residual white head. Light palate, no carbonation. Semi dry. Insipid sweetish oraneg hop and dry malt. Doesn’t taste awful but was uninteresting to the point of being hard to swallow.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Gold with white head. Really thin on the palate, there is a little lemon fruitiness, much in the same way washing up liquid is lemony, sweet, quite chemical saccharine. Not very good, but the only new beer on in a week here.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Amber with a thin cream head; thick and syrupy, but not sweet, with some tropical fruit flavours; and a warming, spicy bitterness to finish.

Cask handpull at Spoons Montagu Pyke. Charing Cross Road. Hazy pale brown with thin head. Diacetyl aroma. Oh dear. Some fruit malt in mouth but the butter is really dominant. Rest if beer is ok but too much diacetyl. Some blackcurrant fruit. Disappointing.

Cask, The Highcross, Leicester. Amber with a thin cream foam. Aromas are toffee and weetabix malts with mixed autumn fruit. Some chocolate with cookie dough yeast. Also some citrus. Flavours are biscuit and toffee with sweet fruitiness. Some floral notes with a dry, fruity finish. Quite heavy on the palate. Decent.

JDW Spring Festival, 2011. Fruity and easy drinking with few hops - just enough to add a touch of balance. Pleasant stuff.
