Cask. A dark golden beer with no head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, leading to a bitter finish.

Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in October 2006. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale copper red in colour with a thin white head. Floral hop flowers present in the short aroma. Thin but resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a robust fiery digestive malt base with tart redcurrant fruit and burnt caramel. Dusty floral hops in the astringent metallic aftertaste. Finish is rather dry with golden syrup and malt extract flavours. A decent session ale.

Cask at The Cleveland Arms with Lyoli, Xiaobo and Kevin. Pours clear amber with a foamy, slightly off-white head. Nice beer overall. Pretty basic but tasty. Nice toasty malts, some ripe fruits, bit of sugar. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, very light leafy bitterness, toasty malts, fruits. Nice, easy drinker.

Cask. My notes claim: "Davenport Lone Wolf" at 4.2% ABV. Clear amber golden with a small off-white head. Nuts and burned caramel in the nose. Medium body, flat, sweet caramel and nutty accents but hardly any bitterness. 210110

JDW, Eastbourne. Pump Clip showed 4.3%, but Wetherspoon literature showed 4.6%. Strained taste - a little thin, with apple notes, like a session bitter; quite dry. Tastes more like a GK IPA than anything more meaningful. More fruit and hops than GK IPA, but not great.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street JDW. Rather fruity. Plenty of malt. Hint of gents toilets in the bitter hop finish unfortunately.

Cask handpull at Folkestone Wetherspoons. Copper colour with disappearing bubbly beige head. Quite a fruity bitter. Fruity yeast on aroma. Reasonable fullness in mouth, Turkish Delight fruit. Bit of gingerish hop on end. Fruit lifts it above average.

Cask at The Pilgrim’s Progress (JDW), Bedford. Dark gold with a small white head. Served so chilled it was hard to discern any aroma. The first taste was intensely sweet, reminiscent of a fizzy lemonade, however a pleasant fruitiness developed, slightly citric, with some bitterness.
