omhper (10454), Stockholm, Sweden May 26, 2008 Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Very dark brown, creamy head. Aroma of apples and molasses. Sweet and fruity with medium body. It’s sloppy and empty with some edgy metal and not nmuvh else. Poor. oh6gdx (5901), Vaasa, Finland Feb 6, 2008 Bottled. Deep rubyish brown colour with big thick creamy brown head. Aroma is fruits, candy, chocolate, along with some roasted notes. Flavour is milk chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts and some candyish notes in the background. Also some mild notes of licorice. Sweet roasted malts and fruits in aftertaste. Very tasteful and wellbalanced. harrisoni (5130), Ashford, Kent, England Aug 21, 2008 500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Some good chewy malts on aroma. On cask this is a real favourite of mine. Some smoke, some laid back liquorice. It is an unusual style that I must admit I like very much. It’s just got interesting flavours that you don’t get in other beers. Slight sour edge to the molasses on the end but then some more rich malt. Bit of a stunner. Dark ruby color, good creamy tanned/brown head. Toffeish, nutty-hoppy and slightly roasted aroma. Toasted malty flavor, some sweetish notes of vanilla, in the finish also licorice. Smooth mouthfeel. In the aftertaste hoppy bitterness. Nicely balanced brew, feels bigger than its ABV and is quite British. Differs from normal Old Ales, more like a milk/sweet stout or a porter. Bov (4623), Bienne, Switzerland Apr 16, 2008 courtesy of oh6gdx - pours a dark ruby-brown colour under a dark beige head; solid biscuity maltiness with notes of nuts and plums; medium-bodied, sweet with a touch of sourness; toasty; long malty, slightly nutty aftertaste - good and subtle
