Cask handpull at County Hotel, Ashford. Yeasty standard bitter. No real reason why this should have been called a Christmas beer at all.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JAN 9, 2012
Tasted this in The Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in December 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. Hint of ripe figs in the short sweet aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base with fruit notes of figs and raisins. Very slight hop flavour noted in this, but hard to detect against the sweet malty background. Finish is malty with a redcurrant tang of fruit. A reasonable session bitter.
