COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Highland’s 15th Anniversary Auld Asheville Ale has been brewed to celebrate our tradition of brewing fine ales and lagers. This version of an English Old Ale has a bold profile from fine British malts, woodsy and estery aromas from traditional British ale yeast, and bittering from Styrian Bobek hops. The addition of Sterling hops provides a hint of spiciness on the nose. These flavors combined with a bright cheery redolence create a savory "Auld Ale" that will warm the dreariest of winter nights.

22 oz bottle. Hazy brown with some beige froth. Nose is dates, figs, caramel and a touch of citrus. Thick and resiny with buzzy carb. Taste is cherry, blackberry and toffee but not overly sweet. Dry woody finish with an earthy, pithy bitterness. Creative brew, i rather liked it.

Bottle. Pours a mahogany body with a white head. Dark fruity malt tones, nutty with a light roast y body. Creamy and chewy with a modest warming. Roasted malt with a mild woody and pine tone to round this ale out. Decent.

Nice aroma of dates and sugar plums. Flavor seems drier than the aroma would suggest. Hints of leather and wood. Solid.

Draft sample @ Brewvival on 2/27/10. deep red pour with an off white head... English hop notes... deep body with dark fruit... sweet malt body... strong finish. Very enjoyable and would make for a nice after dinner sipper.

Bomber courtesy of emacgee. The aroma is dead on old ale with caramel and esters. The flavor is pretty good too with the same and a hint of age too... nice stuff. Perhaps a bit carbonated for the style.

Bottle at Ryan’s hotel room tasting after session one of EBF in Boston. Pours a hazy light brown with a thin white head. Vinyl, plastic, smells like a kiddy pool. Tastes like it smells, gross oxidized, and full of plastic. Bitter finish.

Bomber pours ruby amber with thin tan head. The faint aroma is a mix of molasses covered prunes, fig earthiness, ripe cherries and a touch of milk chocolate. The taste is smooth and rich bringing up notes of molasses and some roasty malts bleeding into prunes, cherries and sweet dates. By midway and to the finish it picks up earthiness and a thin yet tasty layer of sweet chocolate. This taste yum.
