3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bright golden body, slight haze, fluffy head that dissapates a little holding firm at the edges. Blast of tight back citrus hop with a loose white spirit tinge on the nose. Big sledge of juicy lime grit on the initial taste. Teeth polishingly resinous but a fine dance of moreish refreshment on the rest of the palate evens things out. Dry grainy linger in the final third keeps things ticking over nicely. My favourite Highland since Scapa?

Gravity, Leicester BF, 22/03/13: ’Highland A9’. Headless orange gold. Lemongrass, butter, pine and honey in a confused nose. Pleasant stewed tea and orange cream flavour with salty water and spliff. Tidy but not the hop cocktail I wanted.

Cask conditioned handpump Market Porter London 19/03/13. An amber coloured beer with an off-white head. Sweet and fruity. Sticky citrus notes. A decent depth of flavour where the fruits are nice and long. Quite tasty but the sweetness is a little bit too much.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
[cask at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh] Golden amber pour with a nice, tight, white head. The aroma is grassy, and has a fair bit of fruity apricot. Very fruity on the initial taste – more apricot and peach, as well. Bitter finish arrives, and slightly goes astray – but the fruity aftertaste brings everything back together. Decent stuff
