Cask at the Hanging Bat. Pours amber with a thick white head. Aromas of toffee, dried fruit. Taste is light sweet and a little thin. Nice in a traditional kind of way.

On cask @ the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - slightly off blonde towards amber with a nicely proportioned head. Nose - really lovely, pine going into almost lavender. Some resin in the background. Taste - toffee, fresh herbs going into a citrus/pine finish. Palate - light to medium in body, a creamy texture and a long clean finish. Overall - stunning nose, well balanced.

Cask@the black country arms, walsall. Pump clip stated Swannay Ale 9. Golden beer with medium head and decent lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits and dry hops. Taste is a little pine resin, dry hops and peaches. Decent.

Bright golden body, slight haze, fluffy head that dissapates a little holding firm at the edges. Blast of tight back citrus hop with a loose white spirit tinge on the nose. Big sledge of juicy lime grit on the initial taste. Teeth polishingly resinous but a fine dance of moreish refreshment on the rest of the palate evens things out. Dry grainy linger in the final third keeps things ticking over nicely. My favourite Highland since Scapa?

Cask-conditioned at the Barley Mow, Bristol 18/5/2013. Amber with a decent, off-white head. Citrus fruits, some biscuity malts and a decent, bitter finish. A good beer.

(cask) pours a clear golden colour with a creamy off-white head. aroma of herbal hops, oranges, light caramel, earth and yeast. flavour is mostly the same, slightly resinous, with a light sweetness and some notes of orange peel and popcorn in the light-bitter finish. medium-bodied with soft carbonation.

Gravity, Leicester BF, 22/03/13: ’Highland A9’. Headless orange gold. Lemongrass, butter, pine and honey in a confused nose. Pleasant stewed tea and orange cream flavour with salty water and spliff. Tidy but not the hop cocktail I wanted.

Cask conditioned handpump Market Porter London 19/03/13. An amber coloured beer with an off-white head. Sweet and fruity. Sticky citrus notes. A decent depth of flavour where the fruits are nice and long. Quite tasty but the sweetness is a little bit too much.
