4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 zizzybalubba (1161) - Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA - JUN 8, 2012On tap at the tasting room at Highland Brewing Company in Asheville, NC (unsure of the exact alcohol content but I had to enter something in order to add this beer to the database). Pours black with a light beige head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, coconut, and light coffee. Tastes of German chocolate cake, vanilla, and coffee. Surprisingly light alcohol taste given the barrel aging. Well done!

Best beer we’ve found that’s not an artisan beer. Great taste. Great aftertaste.

Pint at Barley’s Asheville, real good aroma. Sweet, bourbon. Nice roasty chocolate with the bourbon adding strong but well mixed scent. Sweet roasty flavor. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, dry bourbon finish. Darn tasty real good mix of the bourbon and malts. Darn tasty.

Snifter pour at the Brass Tap, pours a dark brown, almost black color, aromas of lighht coffee, vanilla, oak and some malt. Flavors are oaky up front, light ash, no bourbon, and some light roast. Nice beer overall. As I burp I get a lot of vanilla coke.
