This was part of merc4’s first package to me. Very malty with an awesome mix of coffee and roasted barley. Some chocolate notes as well. There is also a nice hop profile, which was odd for a coffee stout, but very welcomed. The coffee wasn’t as strong as in a Bells, but played a nice role overall. Low on the alcohol, which makes it very drinkable. darn1207 (549), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 4, 2008 Poured a dark black with a one finger brown head. The head disappeared quickly, but laced very well. Aroma is of roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is heavy roasted malt. The coffee flavor is drowned out by just a little too much malt. Good beer that could have been great. budweiserblows (31), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

It’s on the verge of being a great stout, but they must have added an extra scoop or two of grains. The result is a full-bodied beer with, sadly, a slightly chalky undertaste. Taste is very mocha with a decent amount of coffee and chocolate and some bitterness presumably from the hops. timsilvia32 (446), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
