Commercial Description:
Highland's most robust beer, having a very malty body with a large, roasted chocolate flavor. It is black in color with a very clean finish and a moderate hop flavor.

From bottle : Pours very dark brown in color, with a thin light brown head, that last for a minute or so, then goes down to a thin ring of foam around the edges. Nose is very roasted with some malt, and coco, not to much there really. Taste is roasted and sweet, coco, and coffee beans, with a bittersweet finish. Medium body on the front, but finishes a little thin, pretty smooth going down. Aftertaste is a roasted blandness. Not all that great.

Pours a dark, brown-black with reddish tinges around the edges, not much in the way of a head, but what was there was tan. Nose has an earthy coffee character up front, with some smoked wood and baker’s chocolate aroma. A little thin on the palate, staring off with bittersweet cocoa and darker lightly fruity malts before moving towards an dry espresso finish with hints of grassy hops. Not bad, but not the best stout in the style.

22oz Bomber Recieved this in a recent trade with Brentk56, thanks a lot Brent! Black Mocha Stout pours, well, black. There is a dark cherry highlights when directly backlit. The pour brought forth a one finger tan head that quickly receded to a thin cap. Leaves some respectable lacing as I drink. The aroma is unique and draws me right in. Solid roasty malt presence mingles effortlessly with a dash of cream and what reminds me of chocolate covered blueberrys. All the aromas seem to play well together. The flavor follows exactly what the aroma suggested. A soft roasted maltiness lasts throughout and combines with the creaminess and chocolate covered blueberrys to make all the flavors balance each other nicely. Medium bodied with a creaminess that creates the feel of something slightly thicker. There seems to be a slight chalkiness that I actually enjoy. This is a highly drinkable stout. Big flavor and weighing in at 5.6% keeps this going down without a problem. Another good brew from Highland. I wish their beers were available in my area because the few I’ve tried have been good at the worst and great at the best. 3/15/08

12oz bottle, this one is pouring a deep dark brown, only light is coming through the edges... the taste is chocolatey malty and extremely roasty, some spots of hops too, this is kinda light on the palate and is lacking what i expect from a Mocha Stout.

Almost black body under a foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt, coffee, pine hops. Flavor was failry rich mocha java. Good body and creamy feel. Nice stout.

Bottle from someone. Decent coffee aroma and a bit of black chocolate, a touch boozy somehow. Flavor is a bit of chocolately, a little bit of oats, faded hops, old crusty coffee. Decent enough I guess. 6/3/6/3/3.2

Bottle, thanks to alexanderj. Black pour with some brown head. Aroma is a little meaty, roasted malt, some dark chocolate. Flavor is similar, kind of like a brown ale, some caramel malt, but more roasted. Palate is not good.

Bottle of the 2007 vintage; poured a black color with a small tan head. Aroma was pretty good; chocolate covered caramel and roasted malt. Flavor wasn’t quite as good. Palate was not too great. Some good caramel.
