Highland Black Mocha Stout

dark body with red on the edges and a tan head. alcohol in the nose, with chocolate & caramel. dry cold coffee taste. nice lingering bitter finish. chocolate flavor. smells better the warmer it gets. mocha flavor is present. not a bad one. thanks for sharing, patrick.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that was mostly lasting and left behind a opaque uncarbonated dark brown colored body. The mild aroma was malty and dark chocolate. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish vinous aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of malt and mildly vinous. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

A bit thin but delicious and drinkable. Nice deep color, some coffee and chocolate on the nose and palate. I’d drink it again....not quite as good as my favorite Highland beers (Oatmeal Porter and Gaelic Ale)

Nearly black color with a smaller lid of taupe bubbles. Cocoa, dark chocolate and roasted malt greet the proboscis leaving no doubt this is a mocha brew. Fairly thin in feel. Flavors seem to go away from the mocha and go right for the dark and bitter malts. A touch of creosote and molasses. The aromas seem right, but the flavors are lost in translation.

Vanilla, sweet, carmally nose. Poured a rich dark brown. The flavor had sweet vanilla, roasted malts.

Thanks to NachlamSie. Black/dark brown. Creamy, grayish tan cap. Nose of burnt malt, ash, mocha powder, subtle fiberboard. Flavor steps up the chocolate and coffee, adds a light pine tree hoppiness. Smooth, medium body is a bit thin. Solid brew.

Black and opaque with a lovely, frothy, khaki tan head sitting on top. Burnt brown sugar oatmeal, mocha coffee coolers and semi-sweet chocolate morsels melting over espresso beans lead to an exceedingly well executed aroma. Flavor slides in as delicatessen chocolate milk with a teaspoon of espresso mixed in for veracity. Caramel crème comes in to sweeten up the dry, sooty french press / brown sugar oatmeal concoction. Mild, roasty acidity, but we fall back in line with the mocha-cocoa milk pattern. Thinner, slicker digestif with a wholesome skim milk backbone. Slight hop sear at the tongue’s tip, with the balance being whacked by too much black patent and not enough caramel. Dry taint of steel twanging hop flavors follow bittersweet chocolate slabs all the way through the finish. It’s a stout.

Pours the standard stout black color that allows a little light through at the bottom and sides when you stare at it just right. Head is medium sized and tan. Chocolate comes through loud and clear with the aroma along with a decent amount of roasted malt. Fairly dry taste with hints of chocolate and a little smoke. Maybe a little thin but I don’t fault the beer for that. I choose to fault all those delicious Impy stouts out there for making me a little spoiled. Creamy mouthfeel. Good session stout.
