3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
on tap @HopfestNC-pours a diminishing light brown head and black color with red tint. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/coffee. Taste is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/coffee, secondary hops bitterness. Comes across more as a porter to me. Good carbonation. Occasional.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Liz. Pours black with a creamy/bubbly tan head. Aromas of dark burnt malt and some herby sort of hop. Med body. Flavor is a confusion of chocolate with arguably coffee and treacle. Flavor goes a bit weak. Itís mildly harsh burnt malt with chocolate and some sort of unidentifiable hop. Drinks nicely, but ....

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A: The pour is a dark brown color with a sizable tan colored head.
S: Plenty of coffee on the nose with some good roasted notes as well. Light bittersweet chocolate, too.
T: Again, lots of roast and coffee come through. The chocolate quality is not really there, but there is a strange presence of smoke to this beer.
M: The body is a bit on the thing side, perhaps, with a moderate level of carbonation.
D: I donít really know about this beer. I enjoyed the aromas, but the weird smoke/peat character on the palate and the lackluster body were a bit off-putting.
