3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (4842) - Columbus, USA - JUN 10, 2008
Sample at the Most Honorable SuperHappyFun Stout Tasting. Thanks to Rogueone for sharing. This Stout pours black with hints of ruby around the edges. Medium foamy tan head that lasts awhile. Patches of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, chocolate and touches of dark fruit in the nose. Medium, dry body with a lightly roasted/smoked character. Flavors of coffee beans, malt, caramel and hops. The finish is sweet malt and molasses at first, leading to a lightly bitter coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Nose of of dark burnt malts and some floral hops. Medium in body and smooth in mouthfeel. Flavor is chocolate and coffee,. Burnt malt finish. Pretty good.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with some amber notes. The head is fairly thick and tan. The aroma is black coffee, burnt malts, and dirt. The flavor is weak and unpleasantly bitter. The palate is light to medium, watery and sticky. This is a pretty awful stout.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Onenote81 (902) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - APR 25, 2012
Originally reviewed: 11/26/08. Pours a jet black with about an inch’s worth of tan head. Good lacing. Smells of dark chocolate, dark fruits, and some alcohol. Creamy mouthfeel. Tastes slightly bitter with bits of cocoa and toffee. Slight sour bite on the finish. A little offputting. Good late night brew that is both warming and pretty tasty. Pretty good stout. Give this one a try if you get the chance.

Pours a really nice dark black with a small tan head that dissapears. But this thing laces beautifully. Aroma is nice and roasted, with touches of coffee and spicy hops. Flavor is almost perfect, great roasted chocolate and coffee, with a great balance of spicy hops, and just a touch of sweetness to round it out.

22oz bottle from JCB, thanks Jason! Pours a black colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweeter milk chocolates and a good amount of fresh mocha coffee up front with some cream and a moderate roast. I get a touch of smoke and lactose as well. Flavor is similar. Sweeter milk chocolates and mocha up front before a good amount of roasts come in. Feels thin in the middle where there is some cream and a touch of sour lactose. Woody hops and roast pick it up towards the end as this finishes dry and moderately bitter with a moderate coffee and a creamy milk chocolate sweetness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin feeling body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent stout. It never seems to completely come together for me, but it has a few nice things going on. Not bad.
