The aroma is gorgeous, a rich chocolate and coffee mixture that’s immensely satisfying. The body doesn’t quite match up to the aroma and is a little acidic, but isn’t bad by any stretch. The body could be a little fuller, though. Not a bad beer at all. thedm (3837), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 4, 2006 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that was mostly lasting and left behind a opaque uncarbonated dark brown colored body. The mild aroma was malty and dark chocolate. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish vinous aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of malt and mildly vinous. A decent one that I would consider buying again. SledgeJr (3005), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Slightly smokey flavor. Excellent mouth feel. A bit of a hoppy smell, in fact more of a hop presence than some. Very drinkable. A good beginner’s stout because of the absence of any harshness. adrian910ss (1445), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Nice burnt aroma with milky sweetness and caramel, a touch of perfumed alcohol. Round, full flavors of sweet chocolate malt followed by a surprising spicy hop note, then finishes somewhat dry with bakers chocolate and espresso. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2006 Black as black pour. Mocha colored swirls form on the top of the beer after the giant, pluming head settles. Soft, roasty malts fill the nose - no bitterness or astingency here. Sweet chocolate and woody vanilla fill the voids between. The body is vibrant, with velvetty carbonation leading the way. What follows is a great mix of cocoa, nuts and bittersweet chocolate. Medium body makes for easy drinking. Enough said, I like this stout. shp555 (1776), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
