ElGaucho56 (380), USA Mar 16, 2008 Pours a dark, brown-black with reddish tinges around the edges, not much in the way of a head, but what was there was tan. Nose has an earthy coffee character up front, with some smoked wood and baker’s chocolate aroma. A little thin on the palate, staring off with bittersweet cocoa and darker lightly fruity malts before moving towards an dry espresso finish with hints of grassy hops. Not bad, but not the best stout in the style.
CelticBrew (502), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Oct 10, 2008 Poured very black from 22 oz bomber, forming off brown foamy head. Aroma of coffee, deep dark roasted malts, chocolates and raw vanilla. Flavour much of the same, coffee and chocolates dominate with a nice hoppish end, decent stout, bitterness and sweetness balance out well. dkachur (893), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Oct 5, 2008 22oz. bottle shared by cdumler and purchased at Sam’s Quik Shop. Pours a deep, dark brown with a medium, creamy head. Weak aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is bitter roasted malts and coffee. Medium to full bodied. glkaiser (999), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 1, 2008 12oz. Thanks to bitbucket! Black with thin head. Light stout with good roast, some ash and slightly sweet chocolate. Medium body and very smooth and clean. Enjoyable, but not mind blowing. biznizness (704), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Sep 30, 2008 Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good stout here. This was nice and dark and roasty, and pretty much had all the right moves. Looking forward to hitting this place when we get up to Asheville. hombrepalo (506), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bomber! Thanks to OldStyleCubFan, the last of the many bottles this guy hooked me up with. Poured a dark brown color with tan head. Aroma of roasted malts/barley, coffee, and some chocolate. Mouthfeel is somewhat smooth but a bit on the watery side. Taste is roasty, chocolate, coffee, vanilla. It is good overall, one of the better regular stouts I’ve had. Thanks guy! and go Cubs!
