Highland’s most robust beer, having a very malty body with a large, roasted chocolate flavor. It is black in color with a very clean finish and a moderate hop flavor.

Black w/ a nice tan head. Smells and taste of roasted malts. A bit light on the mouthfeel but I think that adds to the drinkability. Possibly the most sessionable stout I’ve had.

12 ounce bottle purchased at Outer Banks grocery. Chocolate, roasted coffee flavor. Very little bitterness aftertaste. Medium body, one quarter inch tan head with a little lacing. Very pleasant and drinkable stout, one of their better offerings.

Pours a nice jet black color, with a creamy reddish brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and smoke. Flavor is a nice blend of coffee and chocolate with a nice bitter smoke aftertaste.

It pours black with a small tan quickly fading head. It has a strong chocolate and roasted aroma. It has a thin body and tastes of chocolate, coffee and has a nice roasted flavor. I enjoyed this beer & am glad that I bought it.

BOD 12/1/15. Pours black. Outstanding head volume and lacing, world class retention. Light nose of roast and chocolate. Light body that is water like. Slightly below standard carbonation level with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a lackluster finish. The flavor profile is good. It lacks intensity (think stout lite...very lite) but is well balanced. The flavor is pretty much one dimensional and lacks complexity. It begins with a blend of light roast and chocolate. The middle adds a touch of hops but very little bitterness. The finish is a slow fade of the middle.

At the brewery: Chocolate and coffee on the nose and taste. A little more flavor than the porter but lower abv so mouthfeel is thinner. Not as much flavor or as complex. I prefer the porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours a thick black topped off with a thick tan head, truly the way a beer should look to me. Aroma is of fresh brewed slow roasted coffee. Taste is of mocha and chocolates with a slight touch of cloves. thick but not too heavy, finishes smoothly.

Taste of black patent malts, dry coffee notes with some roasted chocolate, toffee. Black and opaque. Roasted coffee bean aroma. Full body. Big foamy cocoa colored head.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt aromas of toasted cereal, moderate herbs for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with background notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Head is small, frothy light brown with spotty lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear very dark brown. Flavor starts faintly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation. A tasty easy drinking Stout
