This is a style that a lot of people get right. Highland is no exception. The beer pours dark mahogany with a medium to small head. The aroma is very good and true to the style with rich chocolate and coffee mixture and malt. Medium body with a watery texture. Green apple notes on the front end, but the taste is quickly overwhelmed by coffee bean and burnt toast. Reservedly sweet. Bitter finish with a slightly tanic aftertaste. A good beer. Refreshing with plenty of flavor without being too heavy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A decent Stout. Pours nice and black. Aroma was coffee and malts. Head was practically non existent. Flavor matched the smell, coffee and chocolate with almost no hops coming through at all. Enjoyable and I would buy this again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black with a slight brown head. Nose is coffee and cream with a nice burst of roasted barley and a touch of sweetness. Flavor, while not offering anything unusual for a sweeter stout, is rich and well-balanced and is surprisingly big for the relatively low gravity. Finished smooth and full of coffee. Above-average stout.

Bottle at home, thanks to Brad! Pours black, little head. Aroma is thick milk chocolate and espresso. Taste is chocolate, light berries, faint coffee. Lots of flavor in a low abv beer. Thin body, high carbonation. Good beer!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a black color with off white head. Burnt, roasty, malty aromas. Roasty, charred, slight chalk, malty, slight coffee flavors. I was expecting a little more coffee in this beer. Overall, solid, full bodied dark beer. Nothing specifically stands out, but its an enjoyable stout.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle poured into pint glass - dark black with a finger of a tan frothy head. Strong coffee and chocolate malt aromas. The taste starts out bitter (roasted coffee) and balances with a sweeter hint of dark chocolate. More a porter than a stout, but overall very good.
