COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A style of Pale Ale, Black Mountain Bitter will be lightly hopped with traditional British hop varieties to balance the malt sweetness yet encourage it to tend toward the dry side.

bottle, from Cary Whole Foods. Good aroma, sweet, biscuit, dough, mild grass, toasted grain. Clean yellowy gold color, good head, but it faded quickly to nothing, no lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Initial bitterness that has a sweet streak kick mid way through. Lite body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Nice easy to drink brew, this would be a good summer beer, but hey itís here now. Aroma opened up as it warmed , itís lite creamy mouthfeel was nice.

This beer pours a pale golden color with a moderate white head. The aroma contains lemons, grassy notes and a light herbal scent. The flavor is rather tame with some bitterness presence. I taste lemons, bready notes, and really not much else. Not much malt backbone to this one. The finish is slightly dry. Overall Highland makes much better but this is an ok quaffing beer.

Bottle from Sams. Bright clear golden pour with slight fizzy white head. Sweet grainy malt nose with some floral hop presence similar to a pilsner. Similar on the tongue, but surprisingly dry and as promised a nice bitter finish. Not exactly a winter beer, so Iím a bit baffled at the seasonal release date. Hand this to me on a warm summer day, though, and Iíd be quite happy.

On tap at the brewery on tour. Getting some pollen like and grass like aromas. More American hops than I was expecting. I hear bitter and immediately think English style and English beer but maybe Iím crazy. Donít get me wrong I like the American hop profile much more than my English brothers over there so that makes this a much more enjoyable experience for me. That experience is dampened a bit with the toasted corn flavor I am detecting in the background. It comes back around again though on the finish with a grassy hop flavor.

Bottle at the Febmergency tasting. Pours gold with small whitish head. The aroma is ripe melon, orange, some spicy hops, and a slight off note. The flavor is melon, apple, and some disembodied bitterness. The finish is oddly nutty. Decent I guess, but not great.

Bottle from ROBORB. Thanks man! Pours golden with a medium lived whitish head. Smell is fresh with earthy, grassy hops. Taste is very smooth, clean and simple, but with no off flavors. Earthy, moderately hoppy, and just enough body to keep it satisfying. Some fruitiness and very light yeast to it too. Normal carbonation and nicely dry overall. Very sessionable and its about time I found something today I actually want to finish.

Pours clear pale gold with a thin white head. Not much on the nose, cardboard. Taste is muted hops and caramel. Very bland, thin, and simple.

Dry grainy aroma reminds me of pale lager. Bright gold and a small white head reminds me of a pale lager. Light in body, light in roast, ample honeyed sweetness, little earthy hops.

Bottle thanks to mar. Taste is skunky, dry boxey cardboard, corn, and bitter ammonia. Dry mouthfeel with some carbonation.
