COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A style of Pale Ale, Black Mountain Bitter will be lightly hopped with traditional British hop varieties to balance the malt sweetness yet encourage it to tend toward the dry side.

Im still astonished they removed Tasgall ale for this line of mediocre seasonal beers. If it aint broken why fix it? Clear gold pour thick white head and drippy lace. Grainy/corny aroma which is very unbecoming in my opinion. Thin bodied easy drinker. Sweet malty flavor with a slight twist of hops. Dry finish.

Bottle at decaturstevo’s Februmergency Tasting for those of us that missed out on Sexual Chocolate ’09. Pours a clear golden yellow with thin ring of white head. Aroma of light hops and cantalope melon rind. Flavor is corn with a distinct hop bitterness. Lingering bitterness on the palate. Not bad.

12oz bottle courtesy of OldStyleCubfan poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear golden yellow with a fluffy white head that dissipates very quickly and leaves no lacing. The aroma is pretty unimpressive with mostly toasted grains and light malts. There is maybe a hint of grassy hops in the nose, but not much. The taste is slightly better with a much more noticeable grassy hop presence up front with the same light bready malt base as in the aroma. The finish is dry and slightly bitter. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with decent carbonation though it could use a little more body overall. This is a fairly drinkable pale but really basic overall with minimal hop presence. Not bad but nothing too complex or flavorful.

On tap at the Mellow Mushroom with Chris, immediately upon completing our MBA educations. For that reason, it tasted pretty damn sweet. It was much lighter (color) than I thought it would be.

Dry grainy aroma reminds me of pale lager. Bright gold and a small white head reminds me of a pale lager. Light in body, light in roast, ample honeyed sweetness, little earthy hops.

Pours a straw-brown into the glass, with an initially wispy head that reduces to nothing. The nose is of grassy hops. The flavors follow in tow, with a subtle dry malt that follows through a dry lemongrass bitter finish. The body is light with subtle carbonation, providing a nice lingering, yet unilateral hop at the back-palate. Decent, but marketed as a winter seasonal is probably placing the brew in the wrong season. This feels much more like a summer refresher than a heartier, cold weather offering. It’s not extremely complex, yet has enough lingering bitters to lather the tongue decently. Decent brew here.

Very yellow. Almost lager in quality. Taste of straw and bitter. Ok all around but not much of a pale for flavor

12 ounce bottle thanks to Suttree. Pours a clear golden hue with a small white head and some lacing. A sweet honey touched nose, grainy and nice. A similar flavor; smooth, almost watery, grains, honey, sweet malt and light citrus. A nice spicy finish. Nice.

TN stairwell special! Fairly typical looking pour with a small white head. Fairly malty aroma but a touch of hops too; pleasant. Flavor is actually a little thin overall. Not offensive, just not much there. Okay.
