2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
I must note that I did drink a brooklyn lager before drinking this, and this beer was served at warmer temperatures. This beer is a summer beer for sure! Light and creamy with a slight spice from the rye. Not much to offer however. Has a slight lemon with a small biscuit and caramel malt nose. Body is thin, without many dimensions. Very ordinary beer flavor, IE tastes like a budweiser to me. Not one I’ll opt for again.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Golden orange color with a pretty big white head. Very lemony in the nose. Like it’s hard to get much else when you sniff. There’s a surprising rye kick in there that wasn’t a surprise anymore once I read the bottle. I didn’t like the rye so much but there’s a decent american wheat beer lurking in there.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2008 Bottle. Bright deep hazy gold with thin head. Looks quite appealing. Lemony wheat and mild yeast on the nose, more on the palate. Nice sour promise on the nose, but ultimately more wheaty. The hibiscus notes turn me off a bit. If this were a bit more sour and had a slightly more full palate, I could really love this beer.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle born on June 28, 2008. Pours a very cloudy gold with a white fizzy head. hm. I’m not too fond of the aroma on this one, it’s very rough and doughy with lots of "generic beer". I notice some papery hops and herbs as well. The mouhtfeel is pretty good, not too light but serviceable as a thirst quencher. The flavor is ever slightly tart, slightly floral with low bitterness and a predominate grainy and doughy character. I’m not too crazy about this, it’s a rather formulatic American wheat beer though slightly more flavorful with small unique nuances. It’s just not my thing.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled at Soul Infusion: Smells of malts and wheat. Has a heavy wheat taste that is great for summertime. Pours a yellow color that shows yeast!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 10, 2008 Pours very cloudy, looks almost viscous in the glass. Light on the nose, a little citrus and some slight spice. Seems a little light on flavor also. Finishes crisp and would be a good summer beer. Just seems to be lacking some personality. A little fruit on the back but missing something.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2009 A good wheat ale. Very light clear color. Looked watery but the taste was not watery at all. Spicy wheat taste. Lightly bitter finish was perfect. Well balanced beer. Highly drinkable and refreshing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wow...could I really be the first to rate the new seasonal from Highland?
It’s pretty nice and definitely a propot for a hot NC summer.
Appearance: Very pale yellow, quite cloudy/opaque and yeasty. Fun to look at in the glass.
Aroma: Rye, wheat, a bit of papaya, brown sugar, and as the label suggests, hibiscus.
Taste: Clove, allspice, banana, and some choice hops. Nice!
Palate: Very refreshing and tangy, with a slightly disappointing "young homebrew" finish to it. I’m tempted to cellar it for a couple of months.
Overall: Not my favorite Highland, but still QUITE solid. I’d have it again.
