Clawhammer Oktoberfest is a lightly colored, but toasty, rich and full bodied Marzen style lager, brewed with traditional German malt and the finest noble hops. A spicy hop finish and aroma balance out the abundance of malt flavor. Clawhammer means pure high-country enjoyment!

Bottle. Translucent dark amber with a tall, frothy tan head. Aroma is caramel, toasted malt, and light spicy hops. Big caramel and sweet malt up front with spicy hops, toffee and toasted malt following. Body is medium and slightly chewy with a moderate, bubbly carbonation. Finished with more caramel, bigger toffee presence, spicy hops, toasted malt and dark bread.

This is a tasty beer but it is a bit sweet for my taste. Still, it has a decently autumnal flavor.

Found a bottle of this when we were in the OBX visiting. Consumed on 9/22/09. Reviewed from notes. Poured into my pint glass a crystal clear pale orange. Minimal bubbles rising through. 1 inch white head on top. Some retention, little lacing. Smell of earthy dull bitterness mixed some hints of caramel sweetness. The mouth is thin and lacking carbonation on the tongue. Mild flavor on this one. Some sweet caramel, slight bittering hops in the middle. Nothing noteworthy about this one at all. Pretty average, tame, and unoffensive.

Bottle poured into glass. Nice spice hop aroma with hints of toasted bread. Flavor is malty but not overly sweet. Well balanced and easy to drink.

Light barley malt nose. Clear amber, medium head, good lacing. Weak barley malt flavor. Medium body. Nothing offensive, macros intensity. Boring. One of the weaker octoberfests.

Draft at GABF. Pours a pleasing copper with a fluffy white head. Nose is toasty, faint herbal hopping and crisp and clean. Nice malt profile with balancing hops. On taste, it is really quite nice. Crisp and fresh, big malt profile and a balancing bitterness overall. Really solid Oktoberfest.

bottle - bruisin ales - pours a clear yellow-orange with a thin head and some carbonation. Aroma is lemon, ginger, and pine. Taste is mildly bitter with the citrus notes coming through at the end. The palate is light and refreshing, finishes clean. Overall, a little light for a marzen, but delicious none the same.
