COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Clawhammer Oktoberfest is a lightly colored, but toasty, rich and full bodied Marzen style lager, brewed with traditional German malt and the finest noble hops. A spicy hop finish and aroma balance out the abundance of malt flavor. Clawhammer means pure high-country enjoyment!

12oz bottle via trade. Pours a nice clear copper color with a one-finger white head that fades to a film before too long. The aroma is pretty nice, with sweet caramel, toast, and bready notes. The flavor is a little on the sweet side but still fairly well-done. Munich malt is big here, lending caramel and slight toasty notes. Medium-bodied and slightly sticky on the mouthfeel, though it finishes dry. On the softer side with carbonation. Pretty good American oktoberfest - above average for the style for sure.

A decent Marzen style brew, I had this from the bottle. Somewhat toasty and rich, with a light amber color. Understated hops. Very drinkable.

A-pours a light golden amber color, completely transparent with a thin off white head. S-sweet caramel malts up front as an earthy bready malt takes over, notes of metallic phenol lie in front of a spicy herbal hop character. T-caramel and bready malts, thick malt body up front, phenols stronger in the taste, a little metallic, crisp spicy herbal hops with light bitterness in the finish. M-medium to full body, thick and slightly stick malt body are rather present with a crisp semi dry finish. D-relatively drinkable with bold malt flavors and well balanced hop presence. good feel to it with a hint of phenol that does seem to detract from the overall taste and aroma.

This Oktoberfest packs all of the autumnal flavors that make October the best time of the year, while having the smoothness of a lager to allow for a surprisingly delicious, refreshing treat.

Amber pour with light white head and lace. Aroma of sweet malt and a hint of molasses. Sweet malt and a light bitter. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Bottled. Poured medium golden with a moderate cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasty caramel and some medium-skinned fruits.. sweet overall with a nice earthy touch on the back of the nose. The flavor found lightly-toasted caramel and pale malt topped by light earth and grainy bitterness.. dry finish.. decent balance. Lighter-bodied, dry, and grainy on the palate.. a little sour at times.. I’d have another.

Pours amber with virtually no head at all. Nose is light with some maltiness and spice...typical Marzen. Flavor is cinnamon and hops with very little malt or depth to speak of. Finish has an almost vegetable quality to it. It’s not bad, really, but this is something you might buy en mass this time of year for a cheap buzz that tastes like fall...kind of. Bleh.

On tap in a shaker at Bouchon in Asheville, this beer poured a coppery orange with a small head and a bit of lacing all the way down the glass. This is one of the nicer American Oktoberfests out there, with a very light (though not too thin) body, smooth lager-y texture, and just enough malt sweetness to give you a hint of flavor. The hops are ghostly - you would hardly know they are there - but that’s true to the style.

Pours orange-amber into the glass, with a fully diminished eggshell head that leaves trace lace. Aromas of malts and a processed candy effervescence. Sweet malt upfront, with some bock-like yeast in the mid-palate. The finish is an almost null semi-sour old stock yeast. A unilateral mouthfeel leads into a semi-thin body and lands slightly flat on the palate. For a Märzen, it’s not bad, just not a super complex offering, and is somewhat forgettable.
