Clawhammer Oktoberfest is a lightly colored, but toasty, rich and full bodied Marzen style lager, brewed with traditional German malt and the finest noble hops. A spicy hop finish and aroma balance out the abundance of malt flavor. Clawhammer means pure high-country enjoyment!

Cloudy, amber-brown with a short tan head. Scent is caramel and bread. Taste is a mild, sweet, slightly spiced bread.... Malt and Caramel..... Nice hop notes at the finish.... Simple, but very good.

bottle. Pours a clear amber color with small tan colored head. Caramel malt aroma with cereal notes. Sweet flavor with malty overtones as one would expect from this style. Light-to-medium bodied. Pretty good.

Twelve ounce bottle from Jungle Jim’s in Eastgate. Nice dark amber color, clean but faint malty aroma, moderate bittersweet flavor with odd vinous/butter-like not. Not the best beer from Highland I’ve ever had.

BOD 7/7/15. Pours a clear medium amber. Very good (for a lager) head volume, lacing and retention. Very light nose of biscuit with caramel notes. Heavy light body that is somewhat smooth. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescent middle and a finely bubbled burst in the finish. The flavor profile is good. Reasonable intensity, lacks complexity but is very well balanced. It begins with a toasty biscuit that is more cracker than sweet. The middle brings an extremely light hop flavor (herbal) and bitterness. A brief hint of caramel emerges at the start of the finish. The finish is semi-dry and a herbal hop note lingers.

Poured from bottle. Good aroma of sweet bread and citrus. Cloudy amber with a bit of head. Tasting brown sugar with malt and citrus/pear flavors. Also some cinnamon and spice. Kinda different - not bad.

Amver pour, thin white head. Light crisp aroma. Body is thin and easy to drink. Flavor is absurdly light. Watery almost.

Bottle from trio. Pours clear Amber with a medium sized off white head. The aroma has your typical sweet esters for the style with some toasted malt and caramel notes. A slight spice from the hops. The taste has a spicy hops presence over a sweet brew. Not bad

Better than old ipas. Caramel, nutty, light hay. Moderately sweet and bready lager without much depth. Kind of decent i suppose.

Highland Clawhammer Oktoberfest is not the best in style, but it is not bad for a sessionable seasonal. Light malty aroma with light sweetness rising from an orange translucent pour with a head that fades too quickly. Taste is well balanced and not real bold with a light sweetness, malt notes and little spice. Clawhammer is a session beer that goes well with food, but not real special sample of the season.

It is good and easy to drink but its nothing special. Still a descent marzen but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
