COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Clawhammer Oktoberfest is a lightly colored, but toasty, rich and full bodied Marzen style lager, brewed with traditional German malt and the finest noble hops. A spicy hop finish and aroma balance out the abundance of malt flavor. Clawhammer means pure high-country enjoyment!

Bottle at Papsø. Hazy orange coloured with a small white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and bread with notes of hops. Sweet flavour of caramel, bread and hops. Hoppy finish.

Bottle. Pours a copper-straw color with a medium off-white head. Flavor is quite good. Good, spiced malts dominate with hints of toasty caramel. Very good for the style, but I’ve always been partial to Highland.

Draft at taco Mac. Pours brown with a thin white head. A few caramel notes on the nose. Some nice maltiness on the tongue. Finishes clean. Solid!

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2013 12 oz bottle, 2012 vintage, served in a Highland Brewing pint glass. A wee bit different, with a slight darker orange-gold body and more flavor from noble hops than a typical Marzen. Crystal clear with a proper looking level of carbonation. The medium-high carbonation is well-chosen, and gives this beer a light crispness. The smallish off-white head has limited duration and leaves little lacing. The aroma features bready German malts with some spicy and herbal notes from the hops. The hops come more to the fore in the near semi-dry and lasting finish. O - refreshing and very good for style. Would be nice with a large Bavarian pretzel.

A distinctive American take on the Oktoberfest style. Appearance was average, a little more orange-ish color, not much head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Mild hop presence in aroma and taste, also some toasted malt. Closer to full-bodied mouthfeel. Highlight of this beer is its incredible smoothness. Recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

12oz bottle pours a murky orange color with a quickly dissipating white head. the aroma is of malts, semi sweet with some touches of hops is the best I can come up with. the flavor is malt forward with some mild bitterness in the middle and on the end. pleasant tasting for this style of beer. seems like mild breadiness in there as well...almost an orange taste but I could be wrong. overall decent and drinkable.

Pours a translucent copper orange gold with a one finger frothy yellowish head. The nose is malty, sweet, earthy and bready malt, no precursor to the bitterness in the flavor. The flavor is sweet, grainy, mild astringent bitterness, more than a traditional marzen, earthy, lager characters, sharp. Very sharp biting bitterness on the mouthfeel. Not too hot.

12 oz. Clear copper with a quarter inch of creamy foam that tries to last. Nose of dry earth, husky grain, caramel and a tinge of spiciness. Flavor is a nice blend of light toasted grain, caramel apple and a touch of earthy spice. Hints of pepper, lemon and wood resin on the finish. Light-medium body is mildly tingly, softish and smoothly carbonated.

Honey malts, biscuity, spicy hops on the nose. Pours amber gold with a thin white head. Very smooth and malty, biscuity, with spicy grassy hops in the flavor. Very mild, but very drinkable.

Fresh bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber hue with a medium, fading head of off-white froth. A soapy wash of lace dries to scattered micro-spots. The nose is clean and fresh, with light grain and toffee malt being countered by floral, peppery hops. Flavors show the same, fresh cereal grain and clean pale malt spiced with lively pepper and dried floral hops. Medium bodied and lively carbonated, it drinks easy. Simple, but well executed.
