StinkBall (7), Asheville, USA does not count Nov 9, 2009 I look forward to tasting this beer every year. My favorite from Highlands Brewing Company. There is a strong alcohol smell to the aroma. The flavor changes every year but is always excellent. Spicy, can be too sweet at times. But overall, I great winter beer. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Nov 3, 2009 Relatively light for a winter for me. Balanced, some spice, faint hops, malty flavor with a hint of roasted bitterness. Nice body but not much complexity. thirdeye11 (405), Texas, USA Aug 9, 2009 (1L swing top bottle thanks to ballewblake) Pours a dark chocolate brown with decent head and good lacing. Nose is caramel, sweet corn, and chocolate. Taste is mildly sweet chocolate, finishes with more delicious chocolate, a nice hop balance, creamy and overall very good. A nice surprise. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Aug 4, 2009 bottle thanks to ballewblake. deep brown with a cream colored head. nose is chocolate and caramel with a hint of vanilla in the back. very nice on the palate with a smooth flavor of vanilla and spice. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Jul 31, 2009 Time to catch up before BCTC. Thin to medium bodied and sweet, with more caramel. Light bitter finish. CheersMate1 (770), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 4, 2009 Picked this up in Athens, Georgia. Five Points Bottle Shop, 22 oz. Plus, as an added bonus it was only $2.50! Nice fluffy head that fades away to a nice thin head that sits on top of a deep dark brown translucent beer. Looks like a friggin good spice/herb/vegetable to me. Sweet aroma, but I am a bit upset that the spices don’t hit my nose harder. If this is a spice/herb/vegetable beer then I am a little confused as to where the spices are, at least, in the aroma. Anyways, a semi-sweet caramel aroma, and that is about it. Ok, now I am picking up a SLIGHT spice aroma, but nothing special. The flavor was a surprise. Very sweet sugar/malt flavor. Slight spice flavor, but really nothing special. Very big malt taste, but the spices are far too muted for me to give this a great rating. Slight bittering hop at the end, with a slight spice tingle, but not enough to save this beer. Very smooth texture.
