Bottle. Shared by a generous Ratebeerian at the PP Strong Ale Fest 07. Rich, rose colored shade of copper with an ivory head. Bourbon, spices and cigar aromas blend with sweet malts. Rather thin mouth feel with tons of vanilla. Malty sweet with cinnamon and spice notes.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2007 Pours dark reddish amber with a well maintained wispy off-white head. Aroma of delicious spice: ginger, cinnamon, toffee. Taste is toffee, caramel, gingerbread, cinnamon, coriander. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Quite nice, not overspiced, malty yet still retains a refreshing quality.

Bottle. Thanks to my Secret Santa. Pours a deep red with hardly any head. Scents of spice on the nose. Delicious spiced fruit cake with some marshmellows and vanilla flavoring. Maybe my favorite winter to this point.

Bottle. This was a shocker. I loved this dark mahogany beer. Loads of winter spices of cinnamon, clove, pepper, and some of that winter warmer caramel and chocolate notes. Solid beer, i’ve had it twice both were noteworthy. A gingerbread man in a glass. Solid.

2006 Vintage, 1L swing-top bottle. Deep copper color. Thick, creamy tan head. Heavy creamy aroma of toffee, buttery cream soda. Flavors of oak aged cream soda, could you get a little more vanilla in here?? Heavy bodied, super creamy texture, with no detection of alcohol.

Dark red color with an off-white head that retains well and gives good lacing. Wonderful smells of cinnamon, clove, allspice, nutmeg, and caramel. I’m digging the taste. It’s got a little bit of hoppyness for balance, but this mostly tastes like cinnamon-sugar bread with a little bit of allspice and a caramel finish. Carbonation is on the higher side and body is bordering light. I’m very happy with this beer and will need to get more of it next winter. Great job, Highland!

Was very surprised by this one. Has a lot of spice in the aroma, good amount of ginger and sugar. Very gingerbread like. Dark color with a thin white head. All the flavors seem really well balanced. Very easy to drink.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2009 Bottle pours an off-white, sticky lacing head and the body is a beautiful clear amber. Smells of caramel, barley, some hops, and butter. Flavors abound of caramel, cocoa, toffee, little nut, and some spices. Nice body.

I look forward to tasting this beer every year. My favorite from Highlands Brewing Company. There is a strong alcohol smell to the aroma. The flavor changes every year but is always excellent. Spicy, can be too sweet at times. But overall, I great winter beer.

Aromas of hazelnut, caramel, bread, dried berries, and vanilla. Clear ruby, off-white head, low retention. Lightly sweet, with flavors of cream soda, and some charred, earthy bitterness. Medium body, good carbonation, medium finish with bready malts and some hop bitterness.
