3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Absolutely sure I’ve had this one, but never rated it. Had it at a wedding this past weekend, so here we go. Poured a slightly ruby amber color with a small white head. Aroma was some toasty notes, floral hops. Flavor was caramel malt, lightly floral notes. A decent amber. More malt sweetness than anything else.

2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours a deep amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, and grains. Feels oily on the tongue with a front end bitterness and a hint of sweet malts. I really wanted to like this beer, but it just is off for me. The overpowering sweetness ruins this beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an amber, with an interesting grapefruit hue. Sweet malts, syrup on the nose. Malty, bready taste with caramel and hints of brown sugar. An excellent amber ale.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Finnegan’s during trivia night (can’t believe I couldn’t remember Good Times was a spinoff of Maude!). Dark mahogany pour. Aroma is malt heavy, butterscotch and coffee, with orange peel notes. Flavor has a surprising amount of roast, followed by caramel and orange peel/pine hops. Malty body, mild carbonation. Definitely on the maltier side, verging on a brown ale.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nicely balanced beer from Asheville’s largest brewery. Excellent balance. Not an exciting beer, but a very good one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Highland Gaelic Ale has a relatively thick, cream-colored head, a mostly clear, bubbly, copper appearance, and good lacing left behind. The aroma is of slightly citrusy, caramel malt and bread crust, and the flavor is of sweet, syrupy, caramel malt, and pleasantly bitter hops. Mouthfeel is medium, and Highland Gaelic Ale finishes semi-dry and highly quaffable. RJT
