3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: 12 oz bottle at Husk, 12/7/12
Aroma: The nose is fairly malty, with caramel, a little spice, and some earthy notes too
Appearance: It pours a clear bright red color with a small beige head and medium lace
Flavor: The flavor has a nice, not overpowering, sweetness and some balancing hop bitterness too
Palate: The body of this beer is medium, it is plenty drinkable, and has a clean, soft mouthfeel
This is some solid stuff for sure. Nothing to go out of your way for, but it is plenty drinkable, and a solid example of the style.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Mostly clear amber pour with a moderate head. Mildly hoppy amber with a bit of nut. Not too bad.

I have no idea why this is Highland’s most popular and most exported beer, it’s definitely not their best.

I am NOT a fan of hoppy beers so this rates low for me, but I could see how others would like it...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 27, 2013 Poured from a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a cloudy amber with a white head. Sweet grassy aroma. Hints of caramel but overall thin flavored. Bitter finish.
On draft at Spacebar. Pours clear. Seems fuller flavored than the bottled version.

Poured an amber red with a nutty amber ale taste. Easy to drink. reminds me of fat tire. Had it out of a bottle at lupi.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy amber with a 1-inch head that leaves a small amount of lacing. Aroma is light, but malty and sweet. Nothing stands out about the taste beyond malty sweetness followed by a nice light hoppy finish. Not complex, but this is an exceptionally well-balanced beer that makes for some easy, enjoyable drinking. It is just a little pricey for what it is, which I think is its only downfall.
