COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness.

3 oz draft sample pours amber with a off white time. Aroma of malts, grass and grain. Taste of the malts and some bitterness.

Pours copper with an off white head. Malt aroma with hints of caramel. Flavor brings a good balance of malt and hops.

Amber pour with straw colored half inch head. Malt, crisp with sharp hop bite that doesn’t hang around long. A little lingering bitterness that balances sweet maltiness. Pleasantly surprised with this.

A deep amber ale with a malty back and a hoppy after bite. Reminds me of Troegs Nugget Nectar but less bitter.

Not bad. Crisp malt backbone. A slight hop lingers and disappears. Caramel notes are there but not overwhelming. Refreshing non the less. Paring well with smoked Gouda. Cheers!

Copper colored ale that pours with minimal amount of head and a fair amount of carbonation. The taste is slightly of hops and a a little carmal.

12 oz. bottle into a Stella glass A: Hazy copper/amber color with a tight beige head some of which refused to pour out of the bottle. Head lasts a few minutes with nice lacing. Fair clarity. S: Mostly getting caramel and toast. T: Fruit. Nuts. Orange zest and burnt toast. The sweetness from the smell is thankfully absent. Delicious. M: Lighter bodied perhaps, than it looks. Refreshing with zippy carbonation.Dry tart finish leaves you wanting more. O: This is very good amber ale. Maybe the best I can think of. Highland has a hit and at $8/6 it’s a no brainer! Extremely good.

Amber pour with an off white head. Aroma is slight caramel malt but overall pretty watery. Flavor is weak, bland, and boring. Wow this one was disappointing.

One of my favorite Asheville beers and breweries! Aroma is a bit nondescript, as it is tough to sort out exactly how it smells. The appearance of this beer is cloudy and opaque, with a cherry-brown color/complexion. Carbonation of this Amber Ale is medium leading to a slight fizzy composition with every sip. The taste if this beer leaves a slight sweetness at the end of each sip. The slogan of Highland Brewery is "Just a wee bit different" and this amber ale lives up to that. This is a very solid beer.

Bottle. Really smooth malty aroma. Not too sweet. Caramel, honey. Taste is very malty for the style, but surprisingly balanced with a light bitterness to finish. Very good.
