daalamar (403), bardstown, Kentucky, USA Apr 19, 2006 Clear amber color with a medium, lasting white head. Hops are clearly evident in the aroma, grassy and metallic at the same time. Flavor has a nice bitterness, but lacks any distinctive malt charecter. Not unplesant to drink, but I’m not sure what they were going for here. It’s not quite an APA, but not exactly an amber ale.... well... what the hell is an amber ale anyway?
GodOfThunder (142), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 1, 2008 Draft at Redlight. Pours brown with a very sticky white head. The smell is strong with malts. The taste is malty with a hoppy bitterness breaking through at the end. Good finish. daknole (1122), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2008 Tap at Taco Mac. Copper pour. Small head. Aroma is nice and malty balanced out with some good floral hops. Flavor has some sweetness, but it countered with the right amount of bitterness. Pretty damn good. brewski519 (31), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Oct 31, 2008 Updated: Nov 2, 2008Came across this beer on my first trip out to Asheville, NC - found it in the mix 12 pack by Highland Brewing. It has since become one of my favorite Highland Brews.
Pours a clean copper color with a light tan head. Picked up an aroma of sweet maltiness and balanced with a small hop.
The taste is sweet at the start and finishes with a nice smooth bitterness from the hops. A great session beer. slf245 (36), USA Oct 27, 2008 Good stuff. Just my kind of dark beer. Full taste without bitterness, Similar to Smithwicks. CoachJT (35), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Oct 25, 2008 Draft pour from Barley’s. Nice orangey copper color with a beige head that goes quickly. Slightly sweet malty aroma, with slightly sweet malty flavor to match.
