Half, cask ale hand pumped at Guildford Arms. Steady filmy layer to a clear, amber-gold body. Fragile head-lacing. Nice and fresh hoppy aroma with toasted malts beneath. Fresh tropical fruity hops in flavour supported by mid-sweet malt and a smooth dry bitter round off. Great session qualities (Edinburgh, 09.04.2012).

On tap @ Cloisters Highland Tap Takeover. Pours golden with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has pine and that distinctive Highland nettles note - less malt than their usual beers. The taste has more nettles and pine with a hint of hay but again less malt than they typically give you. The palate is well balanced - creamy in texture and with a long dry finish. Overall, good beer.

On cask at The Bow Bar Summer Beer Festival, 2011. A very nice golden colour with a thick white head. Resinous hoppy aroma of passionfruit and pineapple. Flavours of passionfruit and pineapple again with mango and a chewy barley backbone. Very well balanced. Mouth-feel is a little resinous and foamy. Great bitterness with a bitter, dry linger. My favourite of the festival so far.

Cask handpull, Derby Summer BF 2011. Oh yes. Found the Art Brew/Highland/Burnside bar at last. Takes a while to get your head round the terrain@ Derby, but what a rambling, well-appointed venue it is. Handpull. The now familiar pale yellow slicked with white. Tomato vine, strawberry mouse, lady’s armpit aroma. Pretty good. Dense and stewed like black Darjeeling, champagne of teas, with a wring of grapefruit. Dunked Rich Tea finish that clings for minutes. Really good.

[cask at SRAF’11] Weak gold colour with a thin white head, very clear condition. Sweet malty aroma with a touch of citrus hop. Dry on the palate from the hop, but the beer becomes sweeter throughout as the malt component arrives. Citrus finish. Decent golden ale, I think Rob can brew these in his sleep [16062011]

Cask @ The Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. Citrus fruit aroma, clear golden colour with a good head. Strong citrus fruit flavour with biscuit aftertaste. A classic golden ale.
