2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
My first from Highland. This stuff looks like apple juice! Fruity scent. Ugh, must be a bad bottle. Just not much here, bitter comes through but not much else.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from the bottle a pale cloudy gold color, big poofy head and lots of tracing on the glass. Not much in the nose, thatís where a poor sense of smell will get you. Beer is smooth and the body medium. Lively carbonation. The finish is what youíd expect of IPA: hops! Not as much as other IPAís Iíve had, though. It went well with my BBQ chicken but to be honest I wasnít craving another one when I was finished.

(12 oz bottle, courtesy of Cavie) Pours a clear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of grass, caramel, florals, and citrus. Flavor of caramel malt, grass, orange peel, and minerals with a watery mouthfeel.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Fresh bottle picked up in North Carolina. Pours a well carbonated moderate orange color. Aroma is of odd grains, vegetables and maybe some light citrus hops. Taste thankfully is better than the aroma, some light citrus hops, malt, really not much else to say, rather bland IPA.

Highly disappointing. Wouldnít even consider this an APA. I love IPAs and the awesome after-taste on the back of the tongue. This beer makes me yearn for a glass of ice cold water which I could use to rinse the rancid taste from my palate. Not a good beer, good riddance!

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle: Clear yellow gold with not much head. Mild hop aroma with a flowery flavor but really not that hoppy. This is one of those IPAís that anyone can drink and think they are into IPAís. Itís not awful, but certainly falls short of your average IPA.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle courtesy of alaskaiscold. Pours a clear gold color with a off white head with little retention. The aroma is light, a bit moldy, a bit yeasty with barley any hop pressence. The flavor has a light sweet malt with a super light pine and some more yeast. The mouthfeel is a about right, oily and light over the tounge with a crisp bitterness... though it doesnít finish so clean. This wasnít too bad, but it certainly doesnít taste or smell like the style too much.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pint @ Flying Saucer / Raleigh. Weak nose, had to dig for it. Big sniffs to get anything. Grassy, nutty, little peach/apricot as it warmed. Clean orangy gold color, Nice head that faded to a cover withgood lacing. Bitter flavor. Grapefruit, lemon, honey, grassy. Bit better than the flavor in terms of strength of it. Medium body, creamy slick mouthfeel, bitter dry flavor. Bit weak in the aroma which brought down the overall impression.

Hazy murky beige. Somewhat earthy aroma. Very earthy palate, chewy with canned mushrooms and oxidized hops. Hrm, not sure I like this.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Originally reviewed: 4/11/09. Pours a darker gold with a decent white head on top. About a finger width in size. Retains fairly well, and leaves some spotty lacing. Nothing spectacular, but still pretty. From here on though, itís downhill.
Smells of biscuits, malt, butter, and bread. Nothing that is characteristic of an American IPA. Mouthfeel is decent. Nice and crisp with a nice little pop on the tongue from the carbonation.
Flavor is of toasted biscuits, weird off-meat flavor, and some hints of sour lemon on the end. This tastes more like an APA in my mind. Nothing tells me this is an IPA. Iím gonna move on from this one, and avoid in the future.
