3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle as a trade bonus from emacgee- thanks again, Ethan! Pours a clear, bright gold with a big white head that laces the glass. Aroma presents a ton of herbal hops, lemon citrus, grass, bread, and peppery spice. Flavor of herbal hops, dry bready yeast, pepper, lemon peel, lemongrass, and a late mineral note. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, herbal mouthfeel. Nice APA.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours gold with a fizzy white head. Nice citrus and floral aromas. Maybe even apple. Not quite medium body. Flavor is light malt with a decent amount of hop. I’d say citrus and floral or grass. Definitely bitter, but this is light. A very good candidate for session or flavorful lawnmower. Very bitter IMHO.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle - Pours clear gold with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, grassy and floral hops, and slightly skunky. Flavor is faint citrus, floral and grassy hops, grainy malt, mild sweetness but finishes dry with lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is light with a good amount of carbonation. I would lump this one in with pilseners - not the APAs. Not one of favorite Highland brews.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
on tap at Tyler’s Apex, 03/13/11. Good aroma, sweet. citrusy. Grapefruit. Clean golden yellow color, ok head that faded quick. Minor lace. Bitter flavor, mildly so. Lite body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Good session beer, little early for a lawnmower, but this was tasty and could drink it all day long.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Province in Asheville tonight. Pour is clear gold, small white head with fine structure. Head lasts and lasts with decent lacing. Aroma is quite faint, too faint really. Hints of cereal grains and citrus, maybe grapefruit, but aroma was too faint to make much impression. Tastes much better, though. Pretty simple, grapefruit, pine, a little fresh bread character. Plenty of carbonation. A little bitter on the finish. A very nice, simple, pale ale.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle courtesy of Solan. Thanks. Pours a translucent yellow gold color with a small white head that quickly dissipates into a fine film. The aroma is relatively mild with some faint citrus and indistinct grains. The flavor is citrus hops forward with a nice biter character that involves grapefruit and pine. The palate is on the weak side and the carbonation is lively. Finishes short and dry. Overall: A nice little pale ale that is better than the sum of it parts, this would be perfect for a hot summer day.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle from Quik Stop Durham
Ar: Citrusy hops shine through really nicely here, along with some floral notes.
Ap: Pours a completely translucent pale yellow/gold with a small 3/4" frothy white head. Very nice lace.
T: Just lightly sweet for an APA, this beer is not overpowering in any way. The finish is hoppy, but not overly so for an APA, and the finish is mostly citrus and slightly floral.
P: Light-medium body with somewhat high carbonation.
O: Excellent APA. I love these ~4.5% APA’s for sessioning. Really wish I had a few more of these.
