2013 Highland Woodford Barrel Aged Cold Mountain served at the 2013 Hotoberfest. Pours dark reddish-brown; nearly as dark as a porter. Light haze.
Small, weak head leaves some lacing and a lasting thin ring.
Feel is rather thin, with low but adequate carbonation (cask). Light body is very smooth. The smoothness, and the BB flavoring and aromatics distinguish this from the normal version, which I had again a couple of weeks ago and which I may like better.

Sampled on tap during Jax Beer Fest 2013. Thanks to the rep for tracking me down! Amber pour with a small khaki head. The aroma shows mostly sweet malts, caramel, toffee, and a hint of dark fruits and oak. The flavor is much the same, mostly the base beer, sweet malts, caramel, toffee, etc. with very subtle oak attributes. Not bad.

Appearance: clear dark amber, fine beige head, drippy lace
Aroma: sweet candy malt aroma, light fruityness
Flavor: sweet malt flavor, caramel and vanilla sweetness, caramel candy, balancing oak
Overall: oak adds a nice complement to the sweet caramel even with the added vanilla
Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 14/20
