COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

Pours a dark brownish-black from the bottle with frothy tan head and light lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malts, oatmeal, and slight coffee. Taste is much more of the coffee, with a slight bitter hop finish. Nice and smooth on the mouth, easy to drink; pretty solid porter.

Pours a very dark, opaque brown color with tan head. Roasted malt, oats not surprisingly, and a hint of cocoa on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes smooth.

This is a very dark beer that is good on cold nights. Has a distinct oatmeal taste. Good aroma and a creamy head. Nice palate with great overall taste. Well done.

Location: Draft at the Biltmore, 1/1/15

Aroma: Light nose with chocolate and roasted notes, caramel, and some hints of ash
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a decent sized tan head on top
Flavor: Flavor-wise, it is pretty similar to the nose, light and a little sweet, ashy and bitter notes
Palate: Light bodied and a little thin, not quite watery, but thinner than I would have preferred
Overall Impression: Thought this was a decent one, though it is a little thin overall. The flavor, aroma, and even the feel just come off as a little muted/thin. Decent, drinkable, hardly memorable.

Bottle from Total Wine in Jensen Beach. Pours black with a tannish brown head leaving tons of sticky lace. Aroma has molasses and licorice and caramel with light chocolate & raisin touches. Taste is of raisins, light roast, caramel, some molasses and a bit of cocoa. Medium to full bodied without any alcohol presence. Finishes well blended between bitter and sweet, but quite short. No bottle date, and more raisin-y than sweet or roasty, so that is a concern. Highland continues to supply mediocre stuff. 13.4

Bottle: Poured dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma was chocolate and the taste was also of chocolate and black coffee. Medium bodied with a long finish. Overall an ok porter but a little strong on the coffee taste.

Nothing but hops. All I taste. Awful beer. Hops are so strong you cannot taste anything else.

I am a fan of deeper and darker porters. The Oatmeal porter, while good, is missing the deep coffee/chocolate taste of other porter offerings. I consider this offering to almost in essence be a "lite-porter" if you catch my drift

Draft. Pours dark copper brown with a thick, creamy beige head. Tastes like very roasted malt, toast, woody, lightly burnt coffee. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like creamy roasted malt, nutty.

Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with thick creamy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, oats, chocolate, light earthiness, and faint plums. Flavor is chocolate forward, light roast, oats, medium bitterness, and faint dark fruit notes; smooth and tasty. Medium body and carbonation.
